Okay, I don't even know what to tell you, because I have never had an internal exam at my RE's office. (That's my infertility specialist, a Reproductive Endocrinologist.) I had a pap at my last physical with my regular doctor (I think in November). What I /do/ end up with is a LOT of ultrasounds to check my ovaries for follicles/cysts/whatever - and one time they asked ME to push down on a spot on my tummy to get a better picture. (I said I expected payment!)
Your experience sounds yucky and I have SO never had to deal with anything like that. Just ultrasounds, blood tests, and the IUIs themselves (which do cramp a little bit and there is speculum yuckiness).
