You KNOW it's hot outside when you've had your central air on in your apartment all day (set on 75°) and you know it's been running continuously, yet the thermostat reads 77°. Sheesh, it's baking so much up on the third floor that the central air can't even keep up. That's sad.

Sadder still? Our next electric bill. But if it's 77° right now with /continuous/ air on, I can't imagine what it would have been without. Considering the amount of sun and the heat index today, I'm guessing triple digits and poached cats.

I don't know how hot it is out here. I'm trying not to think about it. But, I know it's really hot because I walked to the mailbox w/out any shoes on and burnt the bottom of my feet. We have a white driveway. Ouch!

Yikes! I do home visits so I spent a lot of time going into people's hot apartments and then going into my hot car. Repeat ad nauseum.

Our apartment wouldn't get so hot if it was a) not on the 3rd floor and b) not full of skylights that are wonderful when it is not so hot but on summer days turns the whole place into a greenhouse.

Still scared about the electric bill.

It was 106 here yesterday. Our AC was set at 75 and the lowest it would go was 80 degrees! We are on average billing so it shouldn't be too bad ... I hope!

We never thought about getting prorated billing for electricity (we've considered it for gas) because it's not usually a problem. But I'm definitely scared... the heat is supposed to break some tomorrow and maybe we can cut the central air and live with it, but I'd REALLY like it to just cool down enough to shut off for a while. :)

I know!! My apartment is an oven and I have 2 window airconditioning units running constantly because I am afraid of cooking my cats. It seems like I should at least get to be coolish for the amount that this month will cost me!!!

Well, I think cats are resilient little buggers but I know that ours get kind of lethargic when it gets too hot and humid. There was a rumor that we were going to get thunderstorms tonight and kill the temp and humidity, but it's almost 10pm and no storms. Who knows if we'll ever get relief from the evil electric company!
