It hurt about as much as getting a filling does. They used novocaine and then gave me a prescription for codeine, which i had never taken before and efficiently realized that I am allergic to novocaine, because I threw up 20 minutes after taking each tablet. After a day I didn't need the pain pills anymore anyhow. It was a strange experience but again, not that much worse than getting a filling, and I am a complete wimp.
I think I paid $120, something like I paid half and my insurance paid half because it was periodontal instead of dental work and my plan only fully covered official dental work. It was somewhat elective b/c he said I could let it go and wait until it hurt me to fix it (root of tooth being exposed, etc) or I could fix it now so it didn't get worse, somewhat of being preventative measure.
