Well, we actually serviced the furnace at dad's at the buyer's request. And in the end, a couple hundred dollars to make someone happy on a big sale seemed reasonable. Or maybe I'm just a nicer person.
I just don't understand why the guy refused to let us have someone inspect his DIY work. It's not like we were total freaks who said he had to give us money or else, we just said, "Hey, you're not an HVAC guy. We're not jazzed about you doing HVAC work. So can we have someone look at it after?" I feel like if he had planned on doing a decent job, he would have said yes. So now all I can think is that he was planning on doing a crappy job. I mean, he told Jen he wanted to put the cold air return in the LINEN CLOSET. Because there's a lot of air circulation in there? I have no idea what is in this dude's head.
Of course he's within his rights to decline anything he wants, and to be pissy about his decision to accept our offer when it wasn't full price. But it was HIS choice to accept, not ours. If we're jerks because we offered less, who's the jerk for accepting?
