I just hate talking on the phone.

So I called the guy who hit me and told him there was more damage than I thought, and asked if he wanted to come see. He said no, he hit me, he didn't need to see. He said he would call his insurance company and file, and I said I would, too. He gave me more of his info (address, insurance policy #, license plate) and I called the insurance company.

Of course they asked if I had a police report and I said no, and they gave me a hassle about that. But I filed it and told them he hit me and all of that. They said that with no police report, they weren't sure about fault - that ticked me off because umm, I was totally stopped and all my damage is on the rear bumper. But whatever.

So I also found out that we apparently have rental car coverage on the Focus but not the Matrix. WTF? All I can imagine is that it was a mix-up but that could end up biting me in the ass if the repairs take a while. Grumble. And that apparently Jen is the primary policy holder so they wrote the claim as "owner not in vehicle." That kind of made me feel like a 16-year-old on Daddy's insurance.

Now I guess we just see what happens. Police won't issue a report because (duh) they weren't there. So take that, insurance phone answerer guy!

That's so dumb - they shouldn't be hassling you about the police report (not that that makes any difference since they already have). But insurance companies have whole teams of people whose only job is to inspect damage and figure things out. I once rear-ended someone, who rear-ended someone (oh it was such fun) and we all filed with insurance, without a police report, and we all agreed on what had happened. The insurance company sent someone to look at my car and take photos of the practically non-existant damage to my front bumper and la de da.

So, anyway, a pox on the person who hassled you xxx

Yeah, they sent an appraiser to inspect the damage so I don't know what the big deal is. But whatever. I don't even care what the insurance company says anymore - I just want to let it all play itself out.

Ugh.
