Tomorrow is Christmas Morning around here since we are flying out to visit the JenFam in the afternoon. My brother and SIL are here and we will all be doing gifts together. I had so much fun putting the gifts under the tree, assembling gifts, and filling stockings. So much fun! Punk went to sleep saying "Santa is going to come when I am sleeping and the presents will be under the tree!" She is so excited about Christmas this year. She put out cookies for Santa on a special plate we bought and I put the crown and shoes - the things she asked Santa for - on the plate. She has so much loot under the tree, it really is ridiculous since we said we were going light on presents this year. WHOOPS.

Tomorrow we open gifts, I bring my car in for service, we find time to pack for the trip, and take off. Happy holidays, friends. I hope each and every one of you receive everything your heart desires this week and into the New Year.

I can't freaking wait for tomorrow morning. It is more exciting than when *I* was the kid!

I FINALLY finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It took my car's 10,000 mile scheduled maintenance appointment (oil change, tire rotation, hose/belt/fluid check) to do it.

FINALLY.

Now we may discuss.

Friday afternoon, I got a visit from Former Coworker Funk and Former Coworker Krissie. Yay! It was super fun to see them and whenever I do, I feel like I still work there. They tell me all about my old clients and I can't believe I have been gone from that job for over nine months already. Probably because my UMass job made me so miserable.

Last night we went up to The People's Pint in Greenfield because we were going to meet Emily, Ruby and Kai there to watch Michael's band play. Michael's band plays up there quite a bit and Emily always goes (since they're married and all) even though Ruby is 3 weeks younger than Gus. She is always asking us to go and we always say no because they play late (9:30pm or so) and we're trying to give the girl a bedtime. But yesterday we decided to risk it and go.

We got there, ordered an appetizer and some homemade sodas, and by the time the band played one song, Kai was complaining of a headache and they were all going to leave. Sigh. We weren't going to stay without them, especially when we were worried about her being up so late, so we left. By the time we got home it was about 10:20 or so, then we fed the girl, and she didn't fall asleep until midnight. Oops.

On the upside, she slept until 7am. I'm not gonna lie, that felt nice. She ate, went back to sleep until 9:30, and then we packed her up and took her to church.

When I was pregnant, we went to the UU church in Northampton but the congregation was, umm, a lot older than we would like. This is the plague of UU churches - the one in Columbus was very similar and the ones we tried in Boston also seemed kind of old and lifeless. So this morning we decided to go to the UCC/Congregational church instead.

There were a LOT of young families there and a lot of little kids. And it's weird, having a baby with you makes everyone friendly. People just wanted to come up and introduce themselves and talk about how beautiful the baby is and on and on. Hey, I'm not going to complain when people want to tell me how cute my kid is!

Speaking of, she's 10 weeks old today! WOW. Friday is her 2-month check-up (a little late) and we have to decided which vaxes we want her to get. Ulp.

Saturday morning I was supposed to bring my car in for maintenance. I even wrote it on the calendar. And umm... we didn't go. Whoops.

So now that I have ditched the requirement of sleeping on my side, I am getting much better sleep and no butt pain. Back-sleeping, how I love thee. Of course I am still waking up like clockwork somewhere around 4am and being awake for an hour or so until I drop off again, but since I'm not waking up in pain it doesn't seem as bad. It's kind of a throwback to the first trimester.

Anyway, it's a good time for thinking. Like this morning, I was thinking that we are going to Florida to see the in-laws soon, and I don't have warm-weather clothes! Oops, major oversight on my part. Heh. I mean, I have LOTS of warm-weather clothes, I just can't wear them anymore. Heh. So I suppose I should at least get one pair of lightweight pants and/or some shorts or something in case it's especially hot. I can wear jeans if it's not terribly hot but I will be in Florida, dang it, and I want to wear something summery!

I thought about wearing a bunch of dresses but I really don't need to give Jen's mom the wrong idea. Heh. We'll see what happens. Really I just keep thinking about a couple of days of soaking in the pool and trying NOT to think about a couple of days of Jen's mom being really critical of Jen. Usually it just bothers me but lately it's been REALLY bothering me. Like all things kid, it sends me into major overdrive. The idea that Abuela will trashtalk my kid's mommy in front of her just reduces me to a big old pile of weeps. Sucktacular.

In funnier news, I have had a rental car all week because my car's bumper is being fixed from the rear-ending a while back. I'm used to driving crappy cars and always get excited about rental cars because they have OPTIONS. I'd never had a car with options before. Well now I have this totally jacked-up 2007 car with 4K miles on it, and I handed it over and got this crap-ass Mitsubishi with 27K miles on it. It was such a bizarre role reversal, and I MISS MY CAR!

At least I get to pick my car up this morning. YAY!!

So I called the guy who hit me and told him there was more damage than I thought, and asked if he wanted to come see. He said no, he hit me, he didn't need to see. He said he would call his insurance company and file, and I said I would, too. He gave me more of his info (address, insurance policy #, license plate) and I called the insurance company.

Of course they asked if I had a police report and I said no, and they gave me a hassle about that. But I filed it and told them he hit me and all of that. They said that with no police report, they weren't sure about fault - that ticked me off because umm, I was totally stopped and all my damage is on the rear bumper. But whatever.

So I also found out that we apparently have rental car coverage on the Focus but not the Matrix. WTF? All I can imagine is that it was a mix-up but that could end up biting me in the ass if the repairs take a while. Grumble. And that apparently Jen is the primary policy holder so they wrote the claim as "owner not in vehicle." That kind of made me feel like a 16-year-old on Daddy's insurance.

Now I guess we just see what happens. Police won't issue a report because (duh) they weren't there. So take that, insurance phone answerer guy!

Crash redux

This morning we cleaned off the bumper and the back of the car (it was coated in salt) and surveyed the damage. Jen checked in the morning and said there were a couple of scratches and a dent. When I went to check on the way to work, there were at least 6-8 scratches and a good 3-4 dents - most of which are in a circular pattern thanks to something on the crash bar on his SUV.

So frustrating. It's a real eyesore.

So now I guess I have to call him when I go home and tell him there's more damage than I thought, and ask if he wants to come look at it tomorrow in the daylight, and ask him what he wants to do about repairs. I imagine if I take it somewhere they will want to replace the bumper ($$$$) because it's plastic and you can't suck dents out or whatever, but I don't know if he will be willing to do that. Gosh, I hope it's not another phone confrontation because I really don't want to have two in one day (the gym is enough for me, thanks).

I just hate this. I want a weekend where I can just catch up on rest and heal my heart. This weekend is a pretty busy one already, with a mall trip we can't avoid (ugh) but now I have to find time to see this guy and maybe take my car in for an estimate and I'm exhausted already just thinking about it. Sigh.

Also, I haven't felt the baby move since before I got rear-ended and I would be a big fat liar if I said that didn't make me nervous.
judecorp: (downcast)
I was rear-ended on the way home.
No, not badly.
My brand new car has scratches on it.
I doubt it's enough damage to even fix.
But gah, can this stop now, please?
