Wow! We never had water in any basement, either ours or my grandparents'. I don't know if my mom's rental house flooded, though, because I never went into her basement. It wasn't really "finished" and was more of a crawlspace, I think. (Ew.)
But yeah, there's that moment of fear when you open the door and don't know if you'll see a lot of water or a little. Thankfully we saw a little most of the time. Phew!
