The freakiest, grossest thing happened at work earlier.

We have this sliding door that goes out into a small patio and we have a squirrel (or maybe a couple of squirrels) that is always out there doing squirrely things. Very cute. So I get into work and I'm sitting here and occasionally I glance back at the squirrel, when out of nowhere, this gigantic mega-bird (a fighter bird, like a hawk or something) dives down and squashes the squirrel in its evil talon feet. The squirrel is twitching and it is stomping on the squirrel and oh em gee, it was so awful to watch. This was about two feet from me, separated by a screen door.

So I ran out there to try to scare the nasty bird away and it flew away with the squirrel still in its stupid feet.

I hate birds.

??? Birds are supposed to do that to Squirrels. I'm glad to see that Birds of Prey are still able to make a living around here with all the humanity around.

Stupid squirrels keep stealing all the food out of our bird feeder. See, if they left it alone, then there would be robins and cardinals and bluejays for the hawks to eat.

I know it's the circle of life but I can't help but feel bad for the squirrel

Perhaps it was a plague-infested squirrel. If that was the case, the bird will be going down soon.

I would have been absolutely squicked out had I seen that, too.

That is sad and sucky to see, though I hate squirrels. I came home one day to see a hawk eating a live crow once. LIVE! Damn thing kept trying to flap away and would just get pecked in the head for it's efforts! But then I suppose I never did any favors for the chicken I'm going to eat tonight...

no joke, i saw the hawk that lives in the longwood medical area *rip the head off* a pigeon. this, of course, was right outside the window on fegan 8- outpatient psychiatry at children's hospital.
and the other day, outside my window at work i saw a squirrel climb up to a bird's nest on the roof of my building and throw the eggs out of the nest. there was a full on bird-squirrel war after that. the birds won. squirrels are assholes. to be fair, birds are pretty gross too. nature is disgusting!

Poor squirrel baby.:( :(

I like some birds. I usually don't see one big enough to get the squirrelly babies around the apartment. Thankfully.
