Jodie's Blue Dog quilt

It is quite possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen in my whole entire life, and it is SO PERFECT.

I seriously think Jodie should do this sort of thing for money. For realz.

Anyway, we finally got some semblence of order to the baby's room, and I added the pictures to our house set on Flickr. Check out the brightness and let me know what you think!

(There are still a few more things to do, but don't tell anyone. Shhh!)

omg, i can't believe you actually drove all the way to Cols, broke into our house, found the yellow paint we used in the Wonder Woman room, and didn't even say hi to us!

seriously, the hue appears to be very, very similar. and since we have a lot of red in there, cause you know, it's WW, it's all quite the same but of course quite different. our curtains are blue with white stars to match WW's apparel. ;)

anyway--you can probably guess that i LOVE IT. we love bright colors (and are sure a realtor will be horrified with our house when it comes time to sell). august's room looks fun and inviting-you guys have done a great job!!

Down with cutesy stereotypical pastel pink baby yuck, your stuff is great!

I know! She makes a lot of other stuff, too - jewelry and knitted stuff and just a lot of crafty stuff. She has more talent in her little finger than I do in my whole body! :)

She also knitted us the CUTEST hooded blanket - it's yellow and the hood part is lion/cat ears and fur. It is so awesome, I want to wear it myself!

Yeah, I'm pretty much a total Blue Dog nut. When we were in New Orleans the other year, I was totally stalking his gallery.

Ha ha ha! You know that if I was sneaking around Cbus I would totally hang out with you guys. :)

I really really have always loved the colors in your house, because they are so bright and fun and NOT boring. Yeah, I think any real estate agent would totally cringe at our crayola box house too, but hey - I can't live in one of those Pottery Barn neutral color worlds. Not right now, anyway.

I really love your bright blue living room with the Rothko prints. I have always loved your taste! :)

I'm sure it won't be clean forever. ;) It was for the pictures, you know. I had to cart SO MUCH STUFF out of it to take the pictures!

Yeah, we're not exactly pastel people. Our bedroom is really red, too. I suppose cool pastels are calming or whatever, but I guess I'm just not set up to be a calm person. ;)

Hey you know what I realized the other day? You made a baby in 9+ months. I made a house. :-)

These last little steps are a bit painful because the bank keeps asking for more paperwork. But I'll forget the pain once we're in the house.

I haven't been to NOLa in nearly 10 years. Even then I was stalking his gallery!! :D

There's an artist here in Tulsa who does dog paintings in a similar style. I don't remember what her name is, but it's a similar style.

I'll have to find that out. I got my mom a print for Christmas...

I love your house.

We have the same crib and changing table.

The "no boys allowed" pillow made me LOL.

Thanks, I like our house, too. Although I also really like your house. :)

And I'm glad we both like IKEA. How do you like the stuff? It's weird to have furniture in there that isn't being used. The only bummer is when you need to go in the drawers and duck under than changing part.

That pillow was a gift a million years ago. It cracks me up, so I made sure to put it in pictures. :)

Thanks. :)

I like the crib, although it isn't "bumper-friendly". We didn't use a bumper with Alex because he was older, but I just bought one of those mesh bumpers now that Mary is in it to keep arms, legs, binkies in the crib. I haven't tried to put it on the crib yet, but I have a feeling it's going to require some modification.

Okay, the changing table... I really don't want to be negative here, but you asked. I hate it. As a changing table, that is. We never used it as a changing table. I didn't like the way you couldn't get to the drawers when the top was flipped open. And I couldn't get a changing pad that fit. So we just kept closed all the time then I was annoyed because then we just had the two wide "cubbies" that weren't very efficient. In hindsight, I wish I had just bought a regular dresser or a regular changing table. Now, it's perfect as a tv stand in our bedroom. We took off the hinged part and put our TV on the top. The cubby right about the third drawer is where we put our Tivo box. So that's the story. :)

Ha ha ha, that is an awesome story about the dresser. Yeah, as a changing table it is not the greatest. I've found that you can use a regular changing pad if you use it vertically, not horizontally. I originally thought that might be unsafe, but looked at the IKEA website and they use it vertically too. So we'll see. We'll probably end up flipping it back eventually.

Re: the crib, we had gotten one of those breathable bumpers (we'd registered for it) and we returned it because we couldn't think of a way to work it at all. It's because there aren't bars on the head/footboard, it screws it all up.

We're planning to go bumper free and just let the kid get stuck (awful, I know), but if there is a lot of "stuck" happening, I guess we'll modify something, like you say.

Yeah, it's weird stuff. It's cute, but it's weird.

Yep, we're just waiting around over here. It's funny how the first trimester seems SO LONG, then things speed up in the second, then for the beginning of the third it gets REALLY fast, and now? Back to slow.
