There are another gazillion inches of snow today. And it's the heavy, sticky kind. I keep hearing the snow clogging up the snowblower outside. Poor Jen, it is taking a lot longer today. (Although it is still better than shoveling!) There seems to be a ton. Sucks. I may never see my mailbox again. It is after 11am and Jen is still not at work. The plows didn't even do our street until 9 or so, so what are you gonna do? I hope her boss doesn't expect her to make up the time, but he probably does. *sigh*

My friends Eryn and Amy had a baby boy the other day - so exciting! He was a little guy (6lbs 8oz, I think) and the first thing I thought of was, "Oh, I bet they don't have a lot of newborn-size clothes." Everyone always tells you not to bother but let me tell you, when you have a small baby, you wish you bothered! I went through Punk's old stuff today and found the NB stuff that wasn't pink or a sundress (silly July girl babies) and packed it up for them. It's nice to think someone else will get some use out of them... but when I picked up the stuff I couldn't believe how small it was. And to think that Punk wore NB stuff for a long time because she was such a peanut! Yesterday in BRU we saw some NB-sized diapers (Pampers Swaddlers like in the hospital) and holy crap, they are small. Likewise, Punk wore those for a long while. And they are TINY. Guh. Where does the time go?

[livejournal.com profile] somerandomchic and [livejournal.com profile] boisestudley had a baby girl the other day, too - Elsie Jane. I am anxiously awaiting pictures. I need newborn pictures, dammit! :)

Back to the snow - I can't believe how much frickin' snow we have already gotten this winter. Last year it didn't snow at all until February. I guess this is payback. Blarg. I was supposed to have an ENT appointment at 10am today but I rescheduled it. I am not going A-N-Y-W-H-E-R-E today until the coast is clear from all of the icky white stuff.

I am such a snow hater. Why are all of the safe places to live either a) cold and snowy or b) ridiculously expensive or c) both? So unfair. SO unfair.

i'm over winter already. why can't Gus be 1 already so we can have it be July again!

i'm glad you're able to get use out of the clothes for Gus. it's nice of you to offer and not be too sentimental about that shit. some moms are like "no, i must bronz my baby's turds and never let her clothes leave the house!"

Bitch, please. I gave away all of the ugly stuff.

I gave away a lot of the cute stuff, too, actually. You know how I hate the clutter. I kept the stuff that I really thought I would want to use again on a #2... and if there is no #2, it all goes!

I hear ya! It's safe-ish here in Maryland, but it still gets cold and yucky in the winter. And honestly, I'd rather have the snow than the pouring rain and 35 degree temps that we have today. At least then it would be pretty and I'd have an excuse to work from home.

That's great that you can pass on Gus' tiny clothes. I hope someone's little girl gets the sundresses come summer, cause there are few things more adorable than a tiny baby in a sundress.

Oh man, can we trade? I would take the cold rain anyday. You don't have to shovel rain!! Argh!

Jen never gets to work from home. Her job is full of fascists.

I can't wait to see another baby in Punk's little clothes!

I was so very very lucky that the winters were relatively mild when I was doing the DC/Boston trek...

Yes! You had the perfect window for that. This winter has been positively INSANE.

My boys can still wear Pampers Swaddlers, size 2-3. They don't weigh quite 18 pounds yet, and they'll be able to stay in the Swaddlers until 22 pounds. For some reason, they just work for us!

Also, they can easily still wear clothes from Gymboree in the 3-6 months size. In other stores clothes they are consistently in the 9 month stuff, and a couple of things (sleepers) are 12 months. But anything 12 month is too long, and if they're in pants that aren't knit, they fall off!

Crazy kids. :-)

Yeah, your kids are skinny minnies! Punk is in size 3 diapers when we wear disposables (Pampers Baby Dry) but she has a high rise so never gets to wait until the weight limit. She's also ridiculously long so outgrows shirts quickly (helped by bulky cloth diapers) and we have to be careful with pants.

I don't have any Gymboree clothes. I don't even think we have a Gymboree store near here. I don't know. I got a lot of stuff from FreeCycle and the thrift store.

You could look at it the other way, and take a LITTLE hope in (okay, some of) your fellow citizens....the not-safe places to live are so cheap because nobody wants to live there.

I hate that, too. The only places I could be happy are either worse in cost of living or even snowier than here. Argh.

It's insane.

I'm a warm weather person. I like it hot. No, I love it hot. I love summer, I love hot weather, I like to swelter. Realistically, when we're speaking weather I would LOOOOOOOOVE Florida or the deep south. But will I ever live there? Could I? Doubtful.

We need to all take over Arizona or New Mexico or something.

Yeah. I think Hawaii would be friendly, but the two problems there are the cost and well, I think it would kinda suck to live there. When I was there I felt like I was in Disneyland-- everything, and I mean everything, seemed like it'd been put there for the tourists. There were two little "historical" towns, with old preserved buildings and everything, but even they were overrun with tourists.

Why you gotta hate, y0? It was below freezing here in Floridia a few weeks ago, but we got no snow. I hear tell that it hailed here last night, but... eh. That's not good enough. I miss the snow.

I'm with you. I *think* your part of the state got more snow than us today (we have maybe 6 inches right now) but blech! Matt won't be home until late and that means I need to shovel if I want it done. Well, guess what! I don't care that much, bwahahaha! I have a Jeep Liberty with 4 wheel drive!

We lost power for a while this morning, but it is back on thank god. I was panicking trying to figure out how to take care of the babes without electricity!
