Punk did not want to nap this morning. She fought it HARD, so I took her back out to play for a while but she was clearly over-the-edge tired. So we went back to bed with a huge bottle and she went in the crib for her usual quickie nap (30 minutes). When I picked her up, she was obviously still tired and fell asleep in my arms again but woke up as soon as I put her down in the crib. So I brought her to the futon and laid her on a pillow (bad mama! bad mama!) to help with her congestion and she has been sleeping ever since - she woke up from the mini nap somewhere around 9:45.

About 10 minutes ago I was worried that maybe she smothered on the pillow and went in to check on her... and of course I woke her up! Ugh. She fell back asleep for another 10 minutes but now she is awake. I should go get her before she smothers for real.

Poor little Punkin. I hope she sleeps all this illness away.

Dude, she's 7 months old and can roll and crawl. She's not going to smother herself on a pillow. IANAD, and all that, but save your worrying for the important things. I mean, hey, she took a nice, LONG nap - rock on!
Could you raise one end of her crib to help her out during the cold?
How are the nighttimes coming along? Z had two 2+ hr chunks last night. Best night in memory, in that regard. Of course, there was an hour before those chunks that he got awoken and took that hour to fall back to sleep. But whatever...

Yes, she can roll and crawl but not when she's swaddled, dude! (Which she of course was.) Otherwise I wouldn't even care.

Speaking of swaddle, did you really want to lend me those big pieces of flannel? I could even reimburse your shipping. I'm desperate here.

And yeah, we planned to raise the crib last night and forgot before Jen left to go grocery shopping and I couldn't do it with the sleeping Punk in my arms. Whoops!

We had a decent night, too. In the crib for a good 3 hours before waking, then fell asleep in the futon and didn't stir until probably 2am, then up for milk somewhere around 5, then up at 6:15 or so.

Hooray for Z! Now if I could just get rid of the swaddle I would be SET!

oh yeah. duh. mommy-brain made me forget about the swaddle.
Sure, I'll check with the other mom and see if she has a problem lending you the swaddles. we're not even using them for blankets anymore. we tried to use them as "blankies", but he prefers others. One of them isn't hemmed, but it's lasted through washings pretty well for us. (Though we did trim stray threads now and then...and we probably didn't wash them as often as we should have...).

If all is well, I can probably get them into the mail this week.

Cool deal. I really want to break the swaddle habit but every time I try it is a freaking disaster. I tried at naptime and she was chatting away in the crib, and then moving around, and then she started flipping out screaming and I went in there and her face was against the back of the crib and her arm was stuck through the bars. Sheesh! It took so long to get her to sleep after that.

CIO never sounded so good, you know? Argh.
