Why bore the people with stories about the economy or the disaster in the Middle East. It's dry, it's boring, and people just don't understand it. But Richard Gere's fence being too high? Everyone can relate! Everyone has asshole neighbours who built high fences. And when that story involves a Hollywood celeb getting their comeupance? The people just eat that up! That's the news people want to hear about!
