He came to the bottom of the back deck and was meowing, meowing, meowing. (He never meows.) Jen crouched down and tried to beckon him but he went around the corner. I went down the steps with treats and he ran away, first to the other side of the deck and then out the gate into the neighbor's yard. I went into their yard and they were outside, and very friendly about my barging through the bushes. They pointed and said Fin went under this other neighbor's shed. I couldn't see him anymore.

They said they saw him cavorting with an orange cat yesterday and today, but they would continue to keep an eye out for him.

I'm thinking he got a taste of the outside and never wants to come in again. :( *cry* At least we know he's alive and well right now. I put some treats on the deck.

Is Fin fixed? Is it possible he's in a relationship with the orange cat?

I'm glad he's okay.

Maybe keep a laser pointer handy in case you see him again? My cats will follow laser pointers damn near anywhere.

Like you said, at least you know he's in one piece. Hopefully he wises up and comes back in soon!

Hopefully next time he comes back, he'll be hungry enough to come in for food!

I'm glad Fin's OK! I'm sure he'll come in soon. A few years ago, my old roommate had a cat who was obsessed with going outside, and he escaped through the bathroom window a few times. He would always end up on the front porch in the morning, though.

Guinness was like that, too, when she got out. She even foofed herself out like she was trying to ward me off. I think she was more worried about getting in trouble because she started heading back towards the apartment. Someone had suggested renting or borrowing a cat trap. Now that you know he's around it might not be a bad idea. If you call the shelter they might be able to help you out. If you were around here I'd be able to help you out because the people downstairs are always setting them out.

Oh no! I bet he'll be home and inside shortly. I've had cats go missing for a day or 2 and then they come home - not at all contrite. I'd be crying, too. Sorry, babe.
