judecorp: (keep going)

It's kind of a running "thing" around here that I am never really allowed to be sick because inevitably Jen will always be sick worse and will need to rest and stuff. It would be funny if it didn't suck and didn't involve sickness. This weekend is no exception since I was sick as a dog yesterday and she had to go to the ER. So then this morning, even though I hadn't slept and couldn't breathe and was coughing like crazy and had a wicked sore throat, I still had to sleep with Punk when she woke up (often, I think she is getting sick now) in the middle of the night and then take care of her this morning so Jen could sleep. Finally at 8:30 I had to tell her I couldn't do it anymore because I hadn't had more than 30 minutes of sleep and felt like complete butt. I slept on and off until 11am.

I still feel like butt, but work starts anew tomorrow and Sunday is always catch-up day for chores even when Friday and Saturday aren't sick days, so I shooed Jen and Punk out to the grocery store so I could wrap up the week's laundry and wash all of the bottles and sippies and dishes. Then I need to wash the diapers and cut up a bunch of kid food so I can stock Punk's day care bag (provided she is well enough to go to day care, God I hope so). Bleh.

I bought some cough syrup and it does seem to be helping. It's weird to actually use cough syrup for a cough. The last time I had any sort of cough syrup was in college (high school?) when we would drink Robitussin to try to hallucinate off of the DXM.

I guess that means I'm getting old.

I know what you mean. But you know, the day that you are sicker than everyone else....everyone else will know that you are *really* sick. If that makes any sense.

I hope you all feel better soon and can get back to enjoying the summer.

I hope that's true, but I have little hope. But I hope you're right! :)

I remember when Jasmine was first born and I was enjoying all the Taking Care Of Me that was happening. I had all my meals made for me (by Troy - it was just us then, no family around us) and all that good stuff. And then when she was like - three days old or something, Troy got acid in his eyes and suddenly I'm taking care of him.

I was bitter, to be honest. :D

Hey, bitter happens. I won't say I'm devoid of bitter. I was pretty bitter last night when Jen came home from the ER at 3:30 and I hadn't really been asleep yet because Punk was up a million times and my nose was clogged and I couldn't stop coughing... and all I could think was, "Wow, you're going to go to sleep now and I'm not and I'm going to be up for the day around 6:30. Lucky me!"

I hope your house gets to feeling better!

Around here I can be running a fever with a bad cough and crappy nose, but Shane will always be "sicker" and need more rest even if he doesn't have any outward symptoms. Because he's a man and complains about being sick and acts worse than Catherine does. So I suck it up and go about my usual routine, even though I know I'm probably sicker. Funny becuase it's just like I remember when I was a kid-- I thought my mom never got sick, but in truth, she was a mom and couldn't stop to rest.

I only lived with my dad and he rarely complained of illness, so I had no idea about this male phenomenon until I was married to my ex. What is it with some guys, they can be such babies when they are sick.

My grandparents are like that too, my grandmother was almost NEVER down for the count even though I know she must have gotten sick like everyone else.

When I was a teenager my kind of boyfriend who drank a bottle of Robitussin one night while we were hanging out in my dad's store. His store was in this really old building and the only bathroom was in the basement. The basement was like a series of little caves and it was very spooky. So the guy starts tripping and goes to the basement to use the bathroom and comes up and tells me there are millions of tiny killer clowns in the basement.

I know how you feel. Between my father and my wife, my own illness takes a backseat to everyone else, and Syndee often catches whatever I have and it hits her worse than it does me. I've found you still need to find time to take care of yourself or you'll be in no shape to take care of everyone else. Don't run yourself too ragged.

*hug*

I hope you all feel better. It really sucks to be in that position.

Klove and I have that same dynamic going. And the bitter? The bitter I feel is almost worse than the sick.
