We're baaaaaack!

Did you miss us? I bet you didn't even know we were gone.

This past weekend, we packed up the car and the kid and headed off to Niagara Falls to hang out with vishuddha_spin, her wife A, and their daughter Little C. I think vishuddha_spin and I have been planning this trip for FOREVER, at least since we were both finally pregnant with sticky beans. We always talked about how it would be fun to get the babies together, and it was. I mean, I don't take my crazy-active baby on a 6+ hour road trip for just anyone, you know. :)

The car rides went better than I imagined, which is good. We had debated turning her forward-facing to reduce car drama and in the end decided to leave FF as a backup if she got inconsolable - which never happened. I am thankful for that, because I really did want to extended RF and knew that if we flipped her, she would never go for RF again. She did fuss a couple of times, mostly when she was tired and not asleep yet or just plain tired of being in the car, but that was solved by having Jen hop in the back for a little while (at the Canadian border and again 20 minutes from home). The 6 hour trip becomes an 8 hour trip with a toddler who needs meals (and eats slowly) and snacks and diapers. Yawn.

We had so much fun with S, A, and C, even though we saw them briefly. We got in Friday and they got in Saturday, but then C was sick and feverish over Saturday night and they decided to head out early today. Poor C. :( (We think it's teeth.) It gave us an excuse to get an early start too, which ended up being a good thing. But as for S, A, and C, we LOOOOVE them. Mad mad love. I am ready to pack up and move to their street so we can be neighbors! And C and Punk are all ready to be madly in love. C gave Punk a hug and Punk turned around and hugged her right back, and we all know Punk is not much of a cuddler. (She's a fighter, not a lover.) I think the arranged marriage might work after all! :)

We finally got home around 6pm and I was really dreading tonight because Punk took her morning nap from 11-12:35, and then napped from 3-3:30, and again in and out from about 4-4:30. She picked at her dinner and I just KNEW it was going to end horribly. But I think she was just so relieved to be home in familiar surroundings that she was able to relax and fell asleep HARD by 7:30. She hardly flinched when I dropped her dead-weight body into the crib.

I'm relieved too, because after driving all day, I don't think I could have handled a difficult bedtime.

I am totally smiling as I read this post - hahaha - Especially the she's a fighter not a lover part... Punk needs C's calm nature and tight hugs and C needs Punk's energy and attitude... they are perfect for each other! Hahaha!

We loved you two as well. You seem like our kinda peeps, you know. I would have loved a bit more time to chit chat and whatnot - and I think we will have that in the future.

We loved too the way you two held hands as we all walked the streets of Niagara. Sweet.

I am so thankful too that you all did the 6 hour trek. I'm glad too that it wasn't too difficult of a trek for Punk.

I /do/ want to go to Albany... because I owe a play date to yip95 also! And of course you know I need to meet the famous Art Sweet and the even more famous P'ito.

We should plan something!
