We were going to go to the Big E today but of course it is raining. And cold. And raining. We had to get Punk some new shoes at some point because the shoelaces broke on her current ones and they were seriously beat up, so we figured we would run down to the mall this evening real quick-like and get her some new shoes.

The dude at the shoe store was a horse's ass and kept making really crappy statements like, "Wow, she's really behind," and "I don't really like her gait, it's really immature," and stuff like that. I was like, "Dude, she started taking steps YESTERDAY." He kept saying ridiculous statements like, "She shouldn't walk with those walker toys, they mess with her balance," which is umm, untrue. But whatever.

Punk didn't like him either, so after she got her shoes, I was amusing her by letting her lean against the glass wall (second floor) so she could look down on the first floor. She was kind of cruising along the glass wall and I turned for a minute and she was WALKING AWAY. She walked through the mall several times, usually 10-20 feet at a time.

Crazy kid, went from a couple of steps yesterday to full-on toddling through the mall. I guess she was just holding out for snazzy new shoes! ;)

Ecco's = magic. When we got some, Q started really being able to walk while holding our hands for the first time. FYI for next time, if you can get her measured elsewhere, I just discovered they have lots of toddler Ecco's at Deals and Steals. Oh and we have had annoying times with that mall guy too.

Hey, do you know Jess L in Florence? Were you at Anna's first birthday? I'm feeling like I met you but I could also be pulling that out of my butt.

I am SO going to Deals and Steals tomorrow! She was just measured today so it should be good. Thanks for the tip. :) :)

p.s. Play date!

who the heck does that guy think he is? definitely write a letter. sounds like a frustrated OT-wanna-be. Which he will never be if that's how he's talking to people. "immature gait"? dude, chill.

Nice shoesies! We're fans of SoftStarShoes, over here. Zach's got these. Though he's almost busting out of the 5s and we're not too happy about having to fork over for another pair of shoes so soon (bought these in July!)

I bet Punk'll be running and hopping by next week. Or maybe she'll add some rotational movement to her walk (that's like a 2-year-old skill). Immature, my butt.

Woo velcro! It is so much fun when kids get the hang of opening and closing velcro shoes.

My nephew is a boot fanatic right now. He's got a handful of pair of colorful rainboots (a couple handed down from Laurel, others picked up here and there) and I plan to send him the little red cowboy boots from a few-years-ago Halloween costume.

Watch out, kid shoes can be quite an obsession. I'm eagerly awaiting Finn to get big enough for the tres cool Pumas I got him for the winter. I also LOVE the Nordies presales.
