It always freaks me out when she learns something at child care. I love it, but it catches me off guard. We've been pushing the farm toys lately (little people farm, melissa and doug farm puzzle, melissa and doug magnet animals) because they're cute as heck and out of nowhere today, she picked up the sheep magnets and said, "baa."

A genius, I tell you.

So cute. And yeah, I am always disappointed when I mention to J's day care providers that, "oh, he does x now" and they say, "yeah, we know. he's been doing that for ... " Oh well.

I found out my son can clap today, for example. Because Leah's colleague saw him clapping while he was in day care today. I have been trying to get him to clap for weeks now... like, making a concerted effort and all that. I made a concerted effort with hi and bye-bye on a lark and he picked it up in a week, so I figured clapping was my next big project. But.. did he clap for me? No, he picked it up in day care, probably from one of the older boys who he looks up to.

But hey, now he claps. All for the good. And yeah, a 2 year old boy is so much more fun to imitate than Mommy.
