When I look at my friends' pictures on flickr, if it looks like their kid is in a car seat incorrectly, I'll totally leave a comment.

God, I always want to do this but never have the guts. Maybe I'll take your lead and just do it from now on!

That sounds more entertaining than the random comment I got today from someone commenting that my little brother is hot.

urg as much as I try try to have it 100% correct all of the time, he moves down his chest strap sometimes :( I bet I have a photo of this!

Yeah we're having similar issues, in addition to someone trying to get her arms out of the straps.

I have heard a rumor that you can put the prickly side of velcro on the outside of the chest clip to discourage little fingers! Technically the chest clip isn't necessary for safety - it exists in order to ensure that the straps are in the right place on the shoulders - and it will break apart in a crash, but if it's in the wrong place, it could probably hurt the kid's guts. :(

The hurting guts part is exactly why I try to make sure he keeps it up where it is supposed to be!!

K's clip moves down...like the shoulder pads push it downwards. Drives me nuts.

We have the same seat, so I know how annoying the shoulder pads are. Right now we can keep them contained because Punk is still RF so we can keep them on the shoulders.

But you can totally remove them! :)

we take teh shoulder pads off (well, the kids did, and they got lost). Vivi's in a britax and the plastic thing on the front keeps the chest clip up high for the most part. Getting her in her seat these days is a test of child psychology... can I talk her into it without her realizing what's going on. haha

No matter what I do, he wriggles around into ridiculous positions while I'm driving.

I yell "where's your helmet?" at people on bikes or rollerblades, and I've also posted the same on flickr pictures. Particularly of children.

Perhaps an email or phone call would be a better way to educate.

It bothers me that Maggie from the Simpsons is in a car seat in the front seat of Marge's car in the opening sequence of each episode. They redid the opening sequence this year and she's still in the front seat and it still bugs me. So I guess I am just weird for being annoyed at animators about car seat positions - at least you're concerned for real kiddos!

as long as Marge doesn't have airbags, the front seat isn't dangerous like it is if you do have airbags, although the back seat is of course safer. HOpefully people aren't taking child rearing lessons from cartoons. haha

You'd think they'd get tired of moving the car seat so both parents can ride in the front though. I wouldn't want a kid up front because I need the passenger seat for all my junk. lol
