I'm pretty much in love with my pellet stove right now. I want to kiss it on its hot little mouth.

Finally got the chimney/stove guy in this morning to give it a good cleaning so I hadn't used it yet this year. Now that it's all cleaned out, I blasted the house this evening/night and aaah, it is fab. It's actually a bit too hot here in the living room but if you let it get hot enough in here, it will heat the whole house. I guess that's one time when a small, shoebox-shaped house is a plus!

Because we had the stove heating the house tonight, I had to open Punk's door after she fell asleep so she wouldn't freeze in there. Don't know if I should close it when I go to bed or not... I have fears that either she will wake up and start wandering the house or the cats will have a big drag down in her bedroom in the middle of the night. I guess only time will tell.

Speaking of Punk, we're still doing 7:30 bedtime but she is often not falling asleep until between 8:30 and 9:00. What is up with that, people? I thought one of the joys of children was that they went to bed early before all of the good TV shows came on.

And now it's time for bed. Aah, bed.

We put Emma down by 7:30 almost every night. Some nights she goes right to sleep and other nights she just dances around in her crib and sings until 9:00. It's fun to watch on the video monitor. At least she's contained (for now!)

Zach and Izzy were being put to bed at 8 and not going to sleep until 9:30 from April until very recently. Then they decided they didn't need afternoon naps any more. :( The only plus side to that is that at about 8:05 they are sound asleep.

When I was a kid, my bedtime was usually 7pm up until I was about school age, then it was 8pm. This was most problematic for my parents during the summer because there was still daylight seeping in around the drawn windowshades. But even in the winter my brother and I would still be up for about 30 minutes to an hour talking and playing and just trying to wind down. It was even worse when we could hear them laughing at what was on the TV, and we would be really jealous that we couldn't be there watching with them.

I'm not sure that there's much you can do to make her fall asleep when you put her in bed, but she will fall asleep at some point. Trying to force her to sleep when she's not ready to do so is just going to make her frustrated and grumpy, I would imagine. But if you don't constantly check on her, she will still fall asleep. And if she's making noise, she may just be playing with stuffed toys (we did this a lot) until she falls asleep.

The main problem is that she has to be up at 6:30am... and that is not enough sleep for a 2 year old.
