Nap strike

I do believe today is going to be a no-nap day. We've been trying the nap for an hour now. I did most of the stuff I meant to do during nap (bring out garbage, bring in cat litter, laundry) and could realistically take her out and get the rest done. And enjoy an early bedtime, which would be easier for Jen since I am supposed to go out with my coworkers. But argh! I like the kid to have a nap. She is a happier child with a nap.

AND I was stupid enough to tell her she could only watch the video we checked out of the library ("Dora Saves the Mermaids," if you must know) if she took a good nap. Umm, which was what I was planning to have her do while I made a nice dinner tonight. Dang it! Now I have to take that option off the table.

She is in there singing Rudolph at the top of her lungs. I think I will chill a little longer and then put an end to this madness.

Do you ever go in there are "reset" her? I do this with Emma sometimes if she's wound up and has been playing for over an hour. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I'd keep her in there as long as she is playing. I've left Emma in her crib for 2 hours (max) some days and she just never falls asleep. She just plays and sings to her stuffed animals LOL! Oh, and we have Dora Saves the Mermaids on permanent save off our TIVO b/c Emma loves it so much. I think she and the Punker would have a blast playing together.

I do go in there and try snuggling and rocking and stuff. Sometimes it works, sometimes it isn't happening. She actually held it together really well all day until 6pm or so, so maybe she just wasn't that tired today. She did sleep a little later than usual and we weren't as active as we could have been.

I have no problem leaving her in there when she is just playing, but she kept yelling for me and fussing about this or that, and eventually I just pulled her out.

We definitely want a playdate with Emma!
