Bliss

So there's a girl over here and she's finishing up her portfolio, and I'm about four feet away on the computer, and the only sounds are assorted workings.

It's very, very nice.

This is the sort of thing I love -- that sort of peaceful mundane-ness that lets you know that there's a safe serenity in the room, in the people, in the relationship.

Wow. I just typed the word "relationship." That's the first time, right? Gah.

So beside me is this ceiva digital picture frame thingie and I look over and see photos. The one that just flashed up was the one userpic I have of my crew boat at the Head of the Mohawk Regatta in 1996. I type more, look again, and there's one of me sleeping at Guy's house in Columbia, MD, curled up around his stuffed football.

You know, I'm a rather lucky little girl today. I got shivers on the ride home from the airport. And in the driveway. And here, in the basement, where I sit working, listening to papers shuffle as one of the most talented people I know puts her portfolio together.

It's little things. Equus is in her portfolio. That's my favorite play. Ever. Yeah. (Of course, Chess is in there, too, and I /loathe/ Chess!)

Anyway, I'm going to go curl up on her bed with She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb (which Jodie lent me, that I'm devouring, that I read 200 pages of today at the airport and on the plane - hey, I figure if I'm skipping class, I might as well read something non-class-related, right? Besides, cappucinogrrl really liked She's Come Undone, too). That book is sure turning out to be amazing. I miss being able to read for pleasure voraciously.

So. Yeah. I'm going to read, and probably sneak glances at Jennifer while she works, because the sight of her working gives me goosebumps, and pride, and hell, I just like looking at her.

Just as a note, Bink loves that book too. I have only read I Know This Much Is True (which was unreal and hit me like a sledgehammer) so I can not comment on the aforementioned book.
