The past bunch of days have been delightful and wonderous and I am going to type them out for posterity, but the recollection will likely bore you to tears. I don't care. Coworker Velma told me I was glowing when we were driving through Massachusetts, and while I feel dull and dirty and pestilent now, I'd like a bit of that glow back.

My Spring Vacation:

My girl arrived on Tuesday evening around 6:00, and after a brief discussion of what to do, we ditch my dad and my grandparents (we missed family dinner, darn) and head to North Attleboro to eat dinner and do a little Best Buy shopping. She got the first season box set of Queer as Folk, yay! All Emmett all the time! We got home and she was exhausted from driving through horrible rain, so we crashed and burned on the bubble bed of doom.

In the morning, we were up early, showered, and over to grandma's to get some laundry done. I put her stuff from the day before in with mine, and my grandparents spent the early morning trying to figure us out. Divorce + short hair + wonderful girl + moony eyes = Suspicious. We went to lunch and then hopped into the Jeep (which needs a name if it doesn't have one) and drove to Provincetown, which didn't take nearly as long as Mapquest said it would. While it was grey and raw, it was a nice drive - hand-holding and folk music and conversation. After a brief stint at the cold beach, we checked into our room at Snug Cottage (which was cute, though froo-froo) and proceeded to mellow until dinner, where I had okay stuffed shrimp (with onions, eww!) but my girl had a wonderful Portuguese dish with little necks and chourico. Mmmm. Envy. Then lots of talking and then bed.

Thursday was brilliant and sunny and gorgeous, and after lazing about the morning, we walked up Commercial Street (where she tried to get me a Ptown shirt for Baga, and we looked for a turtle for Shani Jean) until we stopped at Bayside Betsy's for brunch, which was yummy. The waiter was hysterical and told me they didn't have a bathroom, and then offered me a vase. Hee! I had chocolate chip pancakes and my girl had banana pancakes, and she gave me a couple of her bananas to dip in my chocolate. That's love. We went in a couple of stores and then drove around for a bit until settling on Race Point. I went hunting for sea glass (my favorite thing!) and only found one tiny piece, which I gave her. She took lots of pictures of me looking for sea glass, so I look very slumped and dejected and walking away. Funny. There's a great picture (taken at arms' length) of a beach kiss.

After beaching, we hung around for a while and had dinner at this neat place called Napi's where I had lobster. (YAY) Dessert was less than stellar, but everything else was really good. After dinner, my girl (who is the Goddess of Fire) made a great fire and we watched it for a while and talked until it was time to sleep. Did I mention she was amazing at the fire? :)

On Friday we had to check out (barely made it on time!) and drove to Weymouth to see my Jenn and my Hannah Banana and my Wiley. Wiley drilled my tooth and we convinced him to give Jenn to us for the evening, so Jenn, my girl, and I drove to see Carrie and William. We went to dinner in JP (and my macaroni and cheese was very greasy and too hot and sadsadSAD!), and then Ms. Jenn went home. Carrie, William, Jennifer and I went to see Kissing Jessica Stein and maybe I will bitch about that later. I got to hold a girl, though, and Carrie and William were adorable as usual. He's much different in small groups - more chatty, more dry humor. I adore him.

We slept in Saturday morning, went to a late brunch with Carrie and William at the Centre Street Cafe where we played with toys and ate too many pancakes. (I HATE KETCHUP!) I packed my stuff, and we played Apples to Apples for a while until Coworker Velma called and I met her in my old stomping grounds in Dorchester. We drove. A lot. I did about 9 hours and she did about 4, which was okay with me. We got in at 6am, and I called my girl. Sleepy girl.

Sleepy girl is one of my favorite sounds.

Anyway, I took a 2-3 hour power nap, unpacked, checked a bazillion LJ entries, and got into some Columbus strife which I'm sure I'll write about soon. But this post, this one, long, post, is pure bliss.

We had a taste of the future this week, being in Boston, seeing our friends, taking a short trip away. We had a taste of the future and I wasn't ready for it to end and I am already starving for more. 12 more weeks.

Woohoo! Fun in P-Town to be had by all!

Hey, you mentioned JP and greasy mac&cheese in the same sentence...by any chance were you at Bob the Chef's?

Glad you had a great time here in Boston...you're going to be so friggin' jacked when you get back here in a few weeks!

You're making total sense...I'm not a JP expert, but I have an idea of where you are talking about. Anyway, an early "welcome home" goes out to you...

This is more than just malice! Better stop and take stock while you're standing here stuck on the steps of the palace!

I love Into the Woods. And you.

that sounds just like the mac and cheese that I had. Carrie's food was good though, and your girl's looked pretty good too, so the place wasn't a total waste.

It was fabulous to see you again. I'm glad you made it home okay, and we see you soon!

The girl's food was delicious. If I ever go there again, I know what I'm ordering! Then again, William's scallops looked wonderful, too.

The place was really neat - I was just sad about the mac and cheese.

Of course, one of the highlights of the trip was /you/!

Glad to hear you made it back in one piece, and loved hearing about your time on the Cape. (Note to self: must find a reason and way back home in the not-too-distant future.)

My favorite memory of P-town: seeing the Indigo Girls there. I should dig up my pictures when I unpack.

And I'll agree that Into the Woods is a wonderful muscial to quote. Near may be better than far, But it still isn't there...
