I went to the kickboxing class tonight, and I definitely made the right choice, although I found out that Hippie Valerie and Todd joined the TKD class, and I absolutely, positively adore Val. However, she did give me a huge hug in the parking lot and invite me to her house on Thursday nights after class to watch Thursday night television which might become a regular thing. (It is a regular thing for her, she was positively gushing about it, "You should come! Shouldn't she come? Tell her she should come! You're coming, right?")

Funny, it's when things are coming to a close that you realize what you have. I've got quite a little life here in Columbus - friends, area knowledge, some semblence of security, job options, community. I have a name here, and while most of the time it's like walking around in someone else's clothes, there are bits of me in there, and I will miss these connections.

But anyway, kickboxing. This class is full of women, and all but one (and the instructor) are in the social work program or have graduated from last year. WaCkY! Every single one. And there are people that I really like a lot, like Stace, who was in my women's issues class way back and (thank goodness) is one of the few die-hard (probably queer) liberals here. Woot! But it was fun, and I had very much missed certain things from when I took it in Maine - like punching hard. Surprising people with the power of my arms. Yeah. I didn't get as sweaty as I'd have liked, though, which means I should start doing other things again, like rollerblading and jogging.

But overall, this was a good day. In summary: I got to sleep later, I had a good phone interview, I went into work late, supervision was casual and nice, team meeting was peer review which I love, my client (who I thought I wasn't reaching) shared so much today that he couldn't believe an hour had gone by (and he shared really good, really necessary stuff), kickboxing was fun, and now I have mac n yak. Yay!

Eh, yesterday is over. That's the most important thing. All I have left between me and a weekend is about 3 hours of grading and a day of chaperoning 2 students at the State House tomorrow.

Then, a full week followed by VACATION!

Yay for April Vacation!

First, Wiley said "oh no" when he heard you were taking kickboxing. I think he's afraid you'll really hurt him. Second, what on earth is mac-n-yak?

Kraft Cheese and Macaroni currently comes in a 5-pack with a free E.T. toy!

(And I don't like E.T., but A. bought it for me. Why? WHY??!?!)

I had bruises that proved how hard you punch.

OUCH!

And I don't frequently admit stuff like that.

Kickboxing is much more your stlye, Jude. I'm glad you're taking it. yay! fun!

Well, this particular kickboxing class is much more TKD-intensive, although I look more forward to the actual boxing parts, since well, that's what I like. :)

(You know about my ridiculous desire to be a boxer, right? Since I was about eight? Hee.)

Dude, you had bruises that showed my indivisual /knuckles/. Heh. I /never/ hit anyone that hard - but I was a little too tipsy to watch myself. Oops. :(

You wanted to be a boxer?? I didn't know that.

You DO know that when I stumbled on to American Karate I was actually searching for a boxing or Muay Thai school, right? I wanted to be a boxer, too.

There was this girl that I worked with at the Youth Shelter that was a boxer. And I was so envious. I wanted to do that.

That's so strange that I never really knew that about you. Which makes me amazed that you didn't like _GirlFight_...

Anyways, that's cool. I'm VERY glad that you enjoyed it.

Why I didn't like Girlfight

It should have been called "Girlsmooch." It was all about this stupid girl who falls in love with a stupid boy and gives half of her life up. I hate that.

The boxing parts were cool, though. And yes, I have always wanted to be a boxer. There is a girl from my hometown (Christina Rondeau) who is a professional boxer and kickboxer. *envy*

I want to be a big buff stud! ROWR!

I sooo miss taking martial arts, I like how I feel when I do it, I like who I am.
I almost started taking Wing Chun(?! i think thats the one) with wiley last year not too far from my house.
I cant imagine for the life of me how I would fit it into my schedule now, but I have been gazing lovingly out car windows at random Dojos for like 3 months now.
Enjoy enjoy enjoy my pretty pretty princess (yes, due to your reaction the last time I think my mind has labelled you thus forever. Hope it doesnt bug you tooooo much ;-) )

My friend takes Wing Chun, and every time he goes to practice, I can't help but call it Wang Chung. Hee. I am so witty sometimes. But you should kick some ass, that would be fun.

I like who you are all the time though, 'magy.

(And no, it doesn't /bug/ me, but it makes me feel sooooo weird! :) )
