My brother sent me his new screenplay, which is about a guy who gets hired as a hit man to kill himself. The "sidekick" is a gay man who spouts off about gay marriage should be legal and other political stuff.
I cut and pasted the post into an email to him. I hope you don't mind if maybe he uses it in a screenplay (which we're still waiting for all ummmm 4 of his so far to be made into movies).

He said that he is in discussions to maybe make it (this last screenplay) into a low-low-low budget movie. His other ones he's submitted to various places and has only gotten rejections. If it does get made into a movie, I'll tell Donny that someone wants to be in it, how's that? :-)
Unfortunately, I've given him all kinds of suggestions to make his screenplays funnier but I don't think he's taken any of them. :-P He's stubborn that way. He sends them to me asking for my opinion and then he doesn't add in my extremely cool ideas.

That sort of thing is a hard business to get into. A lot of my friends in college were film majors, and they are all doing assorted office work.

Donny was an electrical engineering major in college... and graduated. He just decided that he didn't want to be an electrical engineer, and so now he's been working summers as a waiter at Put in Bay making boatloads of money, and living winters in Las Vegas. Last winter he worked in a cafe, this winter, I guess he's spending his time writing screenplays.

I'm not sure what his thing is with having lots of gay people in his screenplays. I kind of theorize that having a flamboyant gay guy in a movie adds humor (think: Will & Grace) so maybe that's why he's doing it.
