I really really REALLY want to work for Youth Pride, Inc. in Providence, RI. Coworker Velma says, "I think you need to have that job." They want a Program Coordinator for their OUTspoken program (Speakers Bureau), among other things.
It was such a non-traditional interview. They asked nothing about the job duties, just stuff about teamwork, learning new things, and interacting with young people. Bounce bounce bounce!
Please please please!
(They are calling people back on Monday or Tuesday. I think I will pass out before then. Call me. CALL ME!)
My goodness - this organization serves over 400 queer youth, at least 40% of which are queer youth of color! (I'm thinking a bunch are Portuguese youth, since he specifically mentioned people coming from Attleboro and Fall River, MA.) That is /so/ much more... more biggeramazingwonderfulexciting than Kaleidoscope (although I /love/ my Kaleidoscope!)
Pay is low ($25K-$28K), benefits are good, he says the vacation/free time is really good. Did I mention I /really/ want this job?
It sounds entirely too awesome.
