I have been in three states this weekend, and one that I'd never been in before. Go me! This weekend I flew to St. Louis, Missouri to visit my brother and his girlfriend. He lives in Cape Girardeau but he goes up to Columbia to visit her on weekends, so I went there. It was actually the most un-busy weekend I've had in a long time.
I got to sleep in. Yay. I went to a Renaissance Festival. YAY! It was in Kansas (and I have never ever set foot in Kansas before), and I got to eat a turkey leg. And Ryan, they had, get this, PORK CHOPS ON STICKS. You would have loved it. There was lots of food on sticks: cheesecake, pork chops, fruit. Everything is better on sticks. They were selling pickles and marketing them as vegetarian hot dogs. Hee!
I ate lots of yummy food - the first night we went to a place called Addison's in Columbia. The second night we ate at this 50s diner place (63 Diner). This morning we had really good brunch and I confirmed that unless they are in breakfast sammidges, eggs are icky.
We went to a new/used record store that had lots of obscure stuff (double yay) and I ended up buying a live Queers album because that damned boy is getting me hooked on all kinds of silly music. I like them lots, though.
We wandered around the Mizzou campus and I got a postcard for Mr. Campbell because he asked me to bring him something. I think he was joking, but now the joke is on him. I found something in the student union that I picked up for Ryan. I got something for Jodie, too. I was looking for something for Jennifer but I was not successful in finding something good. Poo.
My brother's girlfriend is very nice. I'm very grateful that she opened her house to me so I could stay there, and they kept buying me food and stuff which I appreciate but I felt like a big money-user-person. Her birthday is coming up in a while, maybe I should send her something.
Gretchen commented to my brother that I talk more often and more positively about Jodie than about Jennifer, and I guess she asked him why I don't date Jodie or something like that. I felt a little weird about that - I guess I'm hypersensitive when it comes to insinuations about my feelings for Jen or something - but I suppose I can chalk it up to a lot of external factors. I mean, I hadn't seen Jodie in ages and she just left my house for starters. Some other things occured that left me a little uncomfortable, but that's cool, too.
It was a good weekend. I got a letter written to one of my pen pals, and another to my friend Dublin who is expecting a baby on my birthday. I managed to find Emmy's birthday present online (so don't freak if you get something mailed by an unknown person/source). My brother caught me singing in the shower, but he said it was good, so that's fine, too.
Back to work tomorrow. Whee!
