I have been in three states this weekend, and one that I'd never been in before. Go me! This weekend I flew to St. Louis, Missouri to visit my brother and his girlfriend. He lives in Cape Girardeau but he goes up to Columbia to visit her on weekends, so I went there. It was actually the most un-busy weekend I've had in a long time.
I got to sleep in. Yay. I went to a Renaissance Festival. YAY! It was in Kansas (and I have never ever set foot in Kansas before), and I got to eat a turkey leg. And Ryan, they had, get this, PORK CHOPS ON STICKS. You would have loved it. There was lots of food on sticks: cheesecake, pork chops, fruit. Everything is better on sticks. They were selling pickles and marketing them as vegetarian hot dogs. Hee!
I ate lots of yummy food - the first night we went to a place called Addison's in Columbia. The second night we ate at this 50s diner place (63 Diner). This morning we had really good brunch and I confirmed that unless they are in breakfast sammidges, eggs are icky.
We went to a new/used record store that had lots of obscure stuff (double yay) and I ended up buying a live Queers album because that damned boy is getting me hooked on all kinds of silly music. I like them lots, though.
We wandered around the Mizzou campus and I got a postcard for Mr. Campbell because he asked me to bring him something. I think he was joking, but now the joke is on him. I found something in the student union that I picked up for Ryan. I got something for Jodie, too. I was looking for something for Jennifer but I was not successful in finding something good. Poo.
My brother's girlfriend is very nice. I'm very grateful that she opened her house to me so I could stay there, and they kept buying me food and stuff which I appreciate but I felt like a big money-user-person. Her birthday is coming up in a while, maybe I should send her something.
Gretchen commented to my brother that I talk more often and more positively about Jodie than about Jennifer, and I guess she asked him why I don't date Jodie or something like that. I felt a little weird about that - I guess I'm hypersensitive when it comes to insinuations about my feelings for Jen or something - but I suppose I can chalk it up to a lot of external factors. I mean, I hadn't seen Jodie in ages and she just left my house for starters. Some other things occured that left me a little uncomfortable, but that's cool, too.
It was a good weekend. I got a letter written to one of my pen pals, and another to my friend Dublin who is expecting a baby on my birthday. I managed to find Emmy's birthday present online (so don't freak if you get something mailed by an unknown person/source). My brother caught me singing in the shower, but he said it was good, so that's fine, too.
Back to work tomorrow. Whee!

Date: 2002-09-22 10:35 pm (UTC)Do I get extra points from you if I understand the source of this statement?
I sure hope so.
I watched it live (in high school!) when it was first aired, as far as I know. It was on a special PRIME-TIME (!) show during a pledge season. It was wonderful, full of Paul Simon and Ladysmith and yadda yadda...

Date: 2002-09-23 06:44 am (UTC)If you remember who's on there, I have a question: who's the dancer that's all dressed up? (He's about medium height/build, strawberry blonde hair and 'stache, wears tux pants, shirt and vest, sings a little but mostly dances.) It's been driving me nuts every time I see it and can't put a name to the face.
Sing Yourself Silly
Date: 2002-09-23 06:55 am (UTC)When I was in high school, I babysat a little girl and her favorite video was Sing Yourself Silly, so we watched it all the time (and we would dance). I love that video so much so much so much. It has some of my favorite songs, like Ten Tiny Turtles!
Dang. Now I want it. :)
Re:
Date: 2002-09-23 11:47 am (UTC)Oh, wait, you don't mean the muppet.
I'm not sure. I don't have the video. I'd have to do some digging to find that out.
I think Robert MacNeill was in there too, but he didn't dance. Or sing.

Date: 2002-09-23 09:39 am (UTC)1. What I have from you is not much of anything, and is mostly just "Jeff Ott funny."
2. I think I have other plans on Tuesday, too. Thursday before I pick Jen up at the airport?
I love you, Jude, but not in that GALA sort of way...
When will you stop pretending? Don't you realize we ALL know? It's no secret. You've been fixated on me for years. I know no one can measure up to me. I'll always be the one that got away. You'll never get over me. *patpat* I'll make it as easy on you as I can.

Date: 2002-09-23 04:34 pm (UTC)You know, nothing would make my father happier. He's wanted us together for years now. And just think, if you HAD to date a woman, at least your parents already like me. ;)
It must be awfully convenient for you to be able to live with your girlfriend...
