My beloved Brandie Naked was involved in a car accident last night/this morning while driving home with iota. His car got completely demolished by a drunk driver who ran a red light, and if he hadn't employed quick thinking, my best girl guitarist could have been dead. As it is, she's at home resting a very sore and battered body.

My dear gods, but I don't know what I would have done if anything more serious had happened to my prettyvacantone. We don't even know each other very well but... gah. Brandie, I love you. <3 <3 <3

They say when it rains, it pours. Brandie's had a tough couple of weeks, and it'd be really great if all of you could keep her in your thoughts.

I remember the first time I remember ever paying attention to this song. My high school used to have a yearly "lip sync contest." Most of the acts were totally stupid - lots of random popular kids lip syncing to either something terribly trendy or horribly ridiculous. There would be snob girls in bib overalls singing some children's song, or some random people mimicking the B-52s or Paula Abdul, or maybe a whole gaggle of cheerleaders singing "Eidelweiss." One year, though, my smurfbrother and his friends performed this song. They just, well, pretended to be the band. And they made it into the show. Yay!

They passed out photocopies of the lyrics, and I think at my parents house I still have my copy. I remember reading the words along with the lip sync act and falling in love with the song that day. Or maybe I was just trying to impress Mark Recorvits. Heh. Who knows? Either way, this song always reminds me of my big brother.

But you've got a lot of nerve to call yourself a pioneer when you're too goddamned conservative to take /real/ chances. <-- a pretty spiffy motto if I've ever heard one
