Yesterday in a nutshell:
Nov. 21st, 2004 11:02 pmGot up. Took a shower. Got to the bus station really early. Ended up on a spare bus (they planned to have two at the same time, only one filled up) with four other people - riding in style! Arrived in the City. Found
Emmy. Went to institutional-looking dorm in tiny closet-sized room. Ate delicious general tso's tofu at chinese restaurant with fun name (Yummy House). Went to see Ani DiFranco. Was lovely. She sang sappy songs. Someone near us had a cold and kept snorting. Was gross. Met some college kids 10 years younger than me. They were cool. Was in awe of amazingly shee-shee NYU dorm. Drank beer in dorm. Felt old. Listened to some brilliant and priveleged young people. Liked them. Gave them bad ideas. Shaved a girl's head at 2am. Went back to closet dorm. Slept like a log on an aerobed with a stuffed pancreas for company.
In short, I had a fantastic time. Thanks so much, Emily, for being a great host and everything else. And thanks also to Emmy's friends (Wendy, Jonathan, Ben, Justin) for not making fun of me for being old, even if Wendy DID say, "Oh my god, your birth year has a SEVEN in it!"
