Lasell drag show
Apr. 22nd, 2005 12:02 amTonight Jen and I headed out to Newton to go to a drag show at little Lasell College. We were invited by
eight and
buddhafly4224 - the organization that
eight is co-president of was hosting this event and the proceeds went to the Freedom to Marry Coalition. So really, how could we say no?
It was so adorable... all of the performers were totally cute and really tried so hard to put on a good show, and it was also cute to watch the crowd and see all of the college students having a good time. Jen and I felt so freaking OLD, though. It's been so long since we were in college!
The only thing that would have been better is if we'd known the performers. I know that if my beloved Kaleidoscope youth were performing I would have been whooping and hollering all over the place. Since I didn't know the people there, I felt like I wasn't as supportive as I should have been. But I am so proud of Jen&Lisa and their organization for putting a fun show together for such a good cause.
They showed a little movie about the Freedom to Marry Coalition halfway through the show, and so many of the young people in the audience were applauding. It melted my heart. I /love/ idealistic young people!
