I never write about kickboxing, so I'm going to tonight. I dragged myself there today even though I was a little leery that I was going to gush blood everywhere (I'll spare your friends pages the tale of my first period in a year's time, and the year's worth of blood. Oh wait, there, I told you.) because I didn't go last Wednesday or Saturday morning. I'm really glad I went.
The only other person there was crazy Sheila, the red/black belt, so I ended up learning a new kick that we call a front whip, but the rest of the martial arts world calls an outer crescent. (Why do we use funny names?) That was pretty fun, and we did forms. We haven't done forms in a long time, but I guess Sheila is getting closer to black belt test time, and Master Clements has decided that I absolutely have to test for my yellow belt soon. Dude, that would be pretty cool. I'd like to have a job first, though, so I can afford the test fee.
We did forms, too, which means I spent half of the latter part of class sitting on my butt watching Sheila do all of the stuff I haven't learned yet. She's not very enthusiastic in her forms. I hope I look a little more spirited. I don't know if I do, though. Aah well.
Then she tried to goad me into breaking a brick with my hand. After seeing Sheila's reaction to the brick-breaking, I declined. Ha! Take THAT! I rubbed her hand for her, though. That was my contribution.
I am still having a whole lot of fun. It seems that my technique is getting better, which is good. I actually almost look like I know what I'm doing some of the time, except when turning is involved. If I had my way, I wouldn't ever have to do a turning side kick. I always feel like I'm going to fall over.
Either way, I should practice more. My new apartment has a pretty long hallway, and I can do kick combinations all the way to my bedroom. Hee. How dorky is /that/? Ha ha ha. I need a job soon so I can afford to pay for kickboxing. Yep.
