So a year of soy-based formula means my daughter's on her way to being a baby dyke? w00t!

It should make future homeschooling so much more fun, since that'd leave Robert the only straight person in the house. Heh heh... maybe I should change my major to Queer Studies? Well, I tend to procrastinate writing papers, so maybe I should just stick with something more traditionally geeky... mmm.

Now I'm craving chocolate soy milk. I hate being on a shoestring budget... maybe I can convince my expected visitor this weekend to go soymilk-hunting with me. That could be fun!

I just want to say here that the prospects of queer people having queer kids does my heart good. I know it's not PC, and I know that the crusaders want the straight community to believe that our kids are as likely to end up straight as theirs are. However, I also have this very un-PC emotional disappointment whenever I see women with men. I don't know why I feel that way, I just do. And it's particularly more that I want to see young girls grow up to be young dykes, but young gay-bois are cool, too. :)

Maybe I've gotten too indoctrinated by the "homosexual agenda", even though I don't know that I have ever been privy to this "agenda". :)

I know how you feel. I was telling [livejournal.com profile] doulamel the other day that I want to raise queer children. I suppose, though, that it might have more to do with the idea that I want to take in every queer youth that gets kicked out of the home.

But baby dykes are SO cute!

Oh, I so totally agree! The only thing that made Wall Street worth it the one time I went was the few baby dykes around. *sighs dreamily*

I haven't been to Wall Street in a while. Time for another trip down there, methinks. :)

Heh, I wasn't too impressed when I went last time, but it's been two years. Maybe I should give it another try.

Yeah, but there were very few women there that were to my tastes, and the ones who were; well, they were attached. *sighs*

I know it's not PC, and I know that the crusaders want the straight community to believe that our kids are as likely to end up straight as theirs are.

And all my Mexican relatives, too. They keep going off about how awful it is to be gay, when in fact their real problem is that my cousin James had four kids before coming out and now wants to finish his arrested adolescence (he became a father at 16).

One of my friends in Denver grew up as the only male in a lesbian household and once jokingly asked me if we'd be one if we cohabitated. I'm still not sure, but he definitely has better luck with women than I do. (:

Maybe I've gotten too indoctrinated by the "homosexual agenda", even though I don't know that I have ever been privy to this "agenda".

I've always wondered where to buy my copy. I still haven't bought a copy of Heather Has Two Mommies for the short person, although I plan on evnetually acquiring that and the entire Anti-Bias Books for Kids series (which has the added value of being Spanish/English bilingual, so it goes even better with my child-raising philosophy).

If my daughter finds herself on the femme end of the lesbian spectrum, I'm going to have to find someone who knows how to put on makeup without looking like a stripper. (That's all I know how to do, but I learned from one.)

Anti-Bias Books for Kids series

This intrigues me. I'll have to learn more about this.

The series is published by Redleaf Press, which I love for their early childhood catalog. The Anti-Bias Books for Kids series ("teaching children new ways to know the people around them") is written for 3-7 year olds by Eric Hoffman; illustrators and translators vary. Currently the series consists of:

Play Lady/La señora juguetona (ISBN 1884834612)
The Play Lady is beloved by neighborhood children that play in the urban garden around her trailer. When her home is vandalized in a hate crime, the children and their parents help repair her house and yard, including making signs with nice names to heal the hateful ones that had been written on her trailer.

No Fair to Tigers/No es justo para los tigres (ISBN 1884834620)
After fixing up Old Tiger, Mandy and her stuffed tiger go the to store to buy tiger treats. Three steps outside the store and no wheelchair ramp prevents Mandy from being able to go in, but she learns how to ask for fair treatment.

Heroines and Heroes/ Heroínas y heroes (ISBN 188483468X)
Kayla and Nate (introduced in Play Lady) are using their imagination to have adventures. When they pretend to capture a dragon, Nate is captured by the dragon and Kayla comes to rescue him. Guess what? The dragon wants to play too.

Best Best Colors/Los mejores colores (ISBN 1884834698)
Nate has a hard time choosing a favorite color or just one best friend when asked. When his mamas hang a rainbow flag on the wall, he decides he likes the colors best when they're all together. (There's a comment in Amazon.com's listing of the book where a reviewer criticizes the book being anti-bias because Nate has two mamas and they all go to a pride parade, but it takes all kinds.)

I don't use makeup very often myself, but I learned how to do it for theatre, and just sorta tone it down a bit, knowing that I'm not going to be under bright floodlights. There's nothing that bothers me more than to see someone who's 15 walking around with so much caked on that it looks like she's going to war.
