1. I think it's the "sautee in margerine until golden brown" part that makes Rice-a-Roni so yummy.

2. Even if you wait at home all day, the UPS delivery person will come the second you leave the house. And then mark that tomorrow's delivery attempt will take place when you have a job interview.

3. You never know what sort of calls are going to come into a youth services center. I may rant on that later, but right now I'm still too angry and disgusted to put it into words.

4. Long-term commitment can be a real crap shoot. Even if you are devoted, you can only control 50 percent of the variables.

5. Sometimes it's nice to forget your detachable faceplate, because then you can sing in the car in silence.

6. I love kickboxing. Especially the jumping roundhouse kick.

7. Pictures of the best boyfriends make the best userpics.

8. People don't write and receive enough letters. If I made a circle of pen pals, who would be interested?

I would be interested in being part of a pen-pal circle. Email is fun, but there's something special and wonderful about receiving an actual letter from a friend in the mail.

I'm 30+ years old and I still decorate letters with hearts and stickers and rubber-stamps-with-multicoloured-ink when I write them - and I use brightly-coloured paper and funky-coloured pens and I always put a sticker over the seal.

Because.

It's more fun that way. ;)

Yeah, I love writing letters (even though I'm a lazy ass and take weeks or months to write them). I'm looking to have a good old fashioned seal made with my sigil on it, but for now I always SWAK my letters (unless I'm writing a thankyou note to, like, my friend's parents or something).

1) I found the real secret to rice-a-roni. Use butter. No really, this is scientific evidence from your local r-a-r maniacs.

8) I love mail. But I only send back postcards. Writing with my hands sucks. My hands suck. Postcards rock. You know I am good for those!

I don't like butter. And I love your postcards. :)

Yeah but better browns the vermicelli in ways that margarine can't. Give it a much richer texture.

But then it would taste buttery. ICK!

Date: 2002-08-06 07:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] juliann.livejournal.com
Actually I've never noticed a difference in taste. The spices cover it all up anyway. It's such a small amount of butter, and it really does ONLY exist in the recipe for frying the vermicelli.

I used to be a die-hard margerine-for-rice-a-roni person, until we did a side by side comparison. Butter browns better.

I don't think I'll buy a pound of butter to test on one package of R-a-R, but if I come across some butter, I'll give it a whirl. After all, you two are the R-a-R experts.

Steal some the next time you are at a place that just has butter lying around for the bread rolls or whatever.

1. I find margarine disgusting. No matter how tight my budget is, I buy butter.

10. Long-term commitment is a crap shoot. This is the first year he may have remembered my birthday, though I doubt any gift will vibrate. If he still has me around after ten years, I think I finally get The Wedding Ring.

11. I would write letters. I love writing pen-and-paper letters, although right now I only send them to a friend that replies in kind. I love my favorite sailor, even if he is straight. (;

I just told [livejournal.com profile] juliann this, but I don't like butter. Eww. I don't really like margerine either, but I can stand Brummel and Brown.

#10 doesn't sound very positive.

Brummel and Brown is tasty from what I've heard. I can't really taste, so I prefer butter simply because I like the texture and I bake a lot.

My committed relationship hasn't been all that positive over the past year, so I'm cynical about it. Also, he didn't find it very funny when he asked me what I wanted for my birthday that was under $60, and I answered "A babysitter and a Hitachi Magic Wand, or just a babysitter and a Whole Damn Night Without The Baby." Having spent three nights out of the past year with the baby, all while I was there to get up in the middle of the night and tend to the Little Thing, he has no understanding of how desperately I want some time alone. Then again, what would I do with time alone? Shave my legs? Wear a dress and watch TV? *shrugs* 16 more years until she moves out...

Well, erm...you should get my postcard soon. I blame the mail system. It took a week for a letter from home to reach me in NYC. How sad.

If I give you my address, will you really write me?
