I've been told by several people that I seem to be happy all the time. You know, it's really not an act. I really /am/ happy just about all the time. You would be too if you were so fortunate! These are some of the great things that happened this weekend:

smurfbrotherMy brother and his girlfriend came to visit and we had a really awesome time. We had great sushi on Friday night, and then a quick stop at the Coffee Table, and down to the Char Bar for a couple drinks. On Saturday, we had brunch at Starliner Diner (mmmm), then later saw a cool movie we hadn't heard of called Far From Heaven (that I really, really liked), and had another coffee stop, this time at Stauf's.

I got paid, and since this was a three check month, this check was bigger since they only take out for health insurance twice a month. The third check, /and/ the extra money, came at a perfect time for holiday shopping.

Last night, I had an absolutely amazing conversation with my Jennifer about what seemed to be everything. We just kept talking and talking and talking, really close to each other, and it made my heart pound.

We went shopping today and we both found gifts for the gift swap at [livejournal.com profile] mayna's upcoming party. Yay! And while we were out at Easton, we ran into both [livejournal.com profile] prettyvacantone and [livejournal.com profile] mooglegrl, and then bumped into [livejournal.com profile] the_toy_revival. And had Boston Creme cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory.

I spent the evening with [livejournal.com profile] prudentlike and Ms. Eerie Guardless. And then got to hug whod81my boyfriend.

Even though it's horribly, terribly cold outside, I have flannel sheets, warm kitties, and the best girl. Speaking of which, I'm going to go enjoy those things now. I hope the weekend and the holiday (if you had one) were good to you all!

I woke up this morning thinking about this post, how I want to be happy all the time too... thanks for giving me something to think about :)

Hey, that's pretty cool!

Since I trained a bit as a behavioral therapist, I'm a strong believer in how a person's feelings about their situations are based on their perceptions and beliefs. I try to keep my perceptions and underlying beliefs as upbeat as possible.

That's not to say it works all the time, because it doesn't. I get down and grumpy and cranky like everyone else. But when push comes to shove, I have a whole lot to be thankful for. I hope you do, too. :)

You mean "cognitive therapist" or "cognitive-behavioral therapist", right?

smurf: How does my misuse of the term "behavioral therapist" make you feel?
vorpal: Bad...somehow it offends my mental health geekiness.
smurf: And what thoughts go through your mind when you feel offended by this?
vorpal: This is too complicated. Ask about my childhood or something.

Nice seeing you and Jenn amidst my nerdly activities. I'm posting because I wanted to point out that when you saw my lip, the ball had come off the end of the labret and I hadn't realized it yet. So yes, it was very small to nonexistant looking.

Heh, this kind of thing doesn't matter, but it bothers me if I don't clear it up. :P

Yeah, when I saw it, it was just a little post. I was actually concerned that maybe you wear it like that all the time (I was worried it would fall out and you would swallow it or something, I'm such a mom), but I didn't really know how to ask, "So, do you always, like, wear nothing on that?" I'm glad that this is all straightened out.

On a completely unrelated note, that userpic of yours is very flattering.

Hee! Thanks. Trendy black and white emo userpic. Wouldn't be LiveJournal without one.

Now now, I'm not emo. ;)

It's not a pic of me, but it is black & white and it sure as hell the fuck is emo.

Shopping! I don't get to do much shopping the rest of the year, I love to shop over Christmas for other people. I still need to find a white elephant gift, myself... :-)

We had a lot of fun trying to find things that were inexpensive, but still good gifts. I think we found two good ones!

I'm so happy to find others with an interest in psychology babble. This could be the beginning of some insightful conversations.
