Wow. What a great weekend!
Friday night. I left work at 4 (I went in at 8) and meant to do things around the house, but of course I didn't. I kind of wanted to do something quiet and low-key, so
Missy Goodtimes came over. We went to Schmidt's to eat yummy sausages (taste good, kill my digestive system) and then we made her watch It's In the Water. She thinks we're trying to turn her queer, and she is SO RIGHT. My goal is to get her a hot girlfriend!
On Saturday, Jen started feeling sick but she was a trooper about it. We had lots of errands to run (this is the non-fun part). We went to the BMV for her, and then dropped her car off at the Nissan dealer. We brought my car to get the tires rotated and then went up to Tuttle Mall to return a sweater I got for Christmas. It didn't rack in much money, so I didn't know what to get. We went to Best Buy and I ended up buying the entire series of My So-Called Life on DVD. It cost WAY too much money but oh well, it's MSCL and I had to have it! We picked up her car and talked for a while and went to meet
doulamel and
pjgrrl at The Dube. None of us were hungry though, so we headed over to Summit Station to hear some live music.
What a great time! In the course of the evening, I saw
grrlpower and
ae_osu (thanks for the drink, Amy!). And then up in the bathroom I met
whirledpeas and saw a woman I knew from OSU that I hadn't seen in eons. And later I ran into Jason-David, and he told me that Patience and Erica were there celebrating Patience's 21st birthday, so I went to gab with them. And PJ brought her roommate Tracey and she was HYSTERICAL. We just kept laughing and laughing, and I was in the bathroom forever just talking to people (bathroom chat rules!). Jen was being totally sweet all night even though she was sick - she was giving advice like crazy, and even went to the other side of the bar to get me a chair and bring it back. *swoon* I think everyone's jealous - they were all like "She's so sweet!" Yes. Eventually, though, she was feeling really lousy so I took her home.
We got up on Sunday and she was still feeling crappy so I took my laundry and her laundry and braved the laundromat alone. It was PACKED and I was all frustrated because half of the machines were broken and everything was full, and the dry-cleaning part wasn't open and I needed to break a $20 bill, and on and on and on. I think I was done at 12:30, though, and when I got back to Jen's, she was feeling better. We went out to eat at El Vaquero with
binkiegirl and then she came over for a while to play catchup. Yay! Missy stopped by, but it wasn't time to go yet, so the Dirty Tramp left.
I'll leave out the part about how Jen was feeling better, so... you know. ;) Yeah.
We picked Missy up at Coffee Table and walked (BRRR!) to Union Station for Showtunes Sunday.
loudprincess wanted to win tickets to Chicago, so she went head to head with gay men singing "All That Jazz" - and she WON! She was really amazing, and we were all screaming for her (me, Jennifer,
356dreamer,
osuptygal,
laughingsal). We even got to see
pattisimmons! We missed Mel and Andrea, but I drank my dinner and got quite tipsy, so it was all okay.
Quite tipsy. On a school night! But I had so much fun, and by the end of the evening, Jennifer, Jennie and I were blasting out the showtunes, and Jennie was doing duets with this man next to us, and I was so bouncy and smoochy and happy, and well, as Coworker Velma would say, I was probably glowing. At one point, Jennifer leaned over to tell me that she liked being where we were and stuff, and I was gushing by that point, and just went on and on about how I was /so/ happy she moved out here, and that she /likes/ it. It's like every time we do something, she gets a little more of an idea why it was so hard to leave. There are just wonderful people and wonderful times, and everyone loves Jen so much. *bounce*
Okay, I'm getting saptastic. But that's probably because something happened in the bar, in the tipsiness, and well, I don't want to talk about it. I want to keep it wrapped up tight, close to me, and peek in on it from time to time. I don't want to share, because it's ours. But life is beautiful.
I only know one thing: everybody in the world is an angel, Charley Chaplin and I have seen their wings, you dont have to be a seraphic little girl with a wistful smile of sadness to be an angel, you can be broadstriped Bigparty Butch sneering in a cave, in a sewer, you can be monstrous itchy Wallace Beery in a dirty undershirt, you can be an Indian woman squatting in the gutter crazy, you can even be a bright beaming believing American Executive with bright eyes, you can even be a nasty intellectual in the capitals of Europe but I see the big sad invisible wings on all the shoulders and I feel bad they're invisible and of no earthly use and never were and all we're doing is fighting to our deaths-. I got there around 8:25 or so... Teresa, Steve, and Jennie got there maybe 15 minutes before. We sat at the bar. They had gotten a couple of seats, and then Jen and I each stole a chair from a table and moved them to the bar.
