Up in "our Enemy to the North". But my Dad took it over and put a lil fuzzy seat on it....

Aaah, drat! Still, I think I would be intimidated riding with you anyway. You're in so much way better shape than me!

It's been years since I wrote a bike though, and I know my coordination in my legs isn't great -- I had to do some riding after I borke my leg and it was TOUGH so I stopped as soon as therapy was over :)
The other thing is -- up at home you have to have a helmet and here no one does. So I'd either go without and be incredibly afraid of being hit, or wear one and look dorky :)

I don't have a helmet yet, but if I start riding my bike to work, I'm going to get one.

ZOOOOOOOM!

:) I used to rollerblade to work. I'd like to start that again.. I just rescued my blades from Tara's basement the other day.

Sweet tattoo.

I like to rollerblade, but I pretty much have to go by myself. I have really bad knees (repetitive motion injury plus probable arthritis) and I end up having to go really slowly sometimes, and other people get bored with waiting for me. :)

Yes yes yes.

I have to do some research on it first, and talk to my doctor. I'm /really/ cautious about what I put in my body - I don't even really take medicines.

It's been recommended that I do anything from wear knee braces to having laproscopy (no thanks) to getting knee replacements (umm, not now, nope). Usually it just ends up that once I fall in love with a sport (softball, fencing, crew), I'm told to quit it. But bicycling isn't really hard on knees, I don't think... not as much as (*thud thud thud*) running was.

I will, once I get a new bike myself. My rents will be getting me one as a late birthday present.

What kind of bike (other than "shiny and red and fun") do you have? I have a cruiser in mind.

Since I come up with these great ideas and never follow through (Exhibit A: my rollerblades - I use them about 6 times/year), I decided to go to Target to get a bike. So I got what is 'technically' a mountain bike, but it's really just a generic bicycle. You know, like if it were in a supermarket, it would be Kroger brand bike. It's more of a bike trail bike if you ask me. But I wasn't going to spend $100-$300 on a bike I might not ride.

I found shiny loud bike horns at Target. Unfortunately most companies seem to be heading toward scary battery-powered bike horns that make truck noises. I like non-electric noisemakers. I am looking for a really loud BRRRING!-sounding bell for my bike. Once I do, I shall bike around the neighborhood and ring it at all the dogs that bark at me. (:

I saw a brrrrrring bell at Target when I was bike shopping. I didn't get any horns yet, though, because I spent my horn money on one of those squishy seats.

Good choice! The first thing I bought for my bike (after a helmet) was a ladies' gel seat. Robert teases me about it, but he's got a saddle with a hole in the middle so as not to press on delicate areas.

I got really excited last week when the new Performance Bike catalog came in and I saw I could get a gel-filled seat cover! I don't know if it'd work over a gel-filled seat but I thought, hey, that might be really cool. I'm doofey now from new meds, so don't mind me... (:

Even with my gel seat cover, I'm still totally feeling the owwies in the crotch today. OW!

I'll ride with you. Are we still on for caching on Sunday?

From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
YES! I haven't put together my replacement cache (for my old one) yet. We'll go check out where the old one was, and if it's gone, we'll put the new one in and resurrect it!

Sounds like an awesome plan...although I guess this spoils the surprise of where it's hidden. :) Not that I have GPS to find these things on my own anyway. About what time did you want to head out?

Silly girl, asking me things about times and plans. Umm... hrm.

I can definitely have my laundry done by 12:30. What say you to 12:30 - 1:00?

What about Francine?

Or, Heidi Bronkowitz? As in, "Where's Heidi Bronkowitz? I think her chain fell off."

You know, even if I end up giving my bike another name, I think I'll always think of it as Heidi Bronkowitz.

(Is that a real person?)

No. But it is the most ungainly name I can think of. (Pantsie refers to her sister's cat as Estelle Bronkowitz on my recommendation.)
