I'm interested in things.
Mar. 31st, 2003 10:00 amI'd call this one a pretty successful weekend, all told, even though things didn't exactly go the way I thought or planned. All I know is that I almost feel ready for the full week of work - refreshed and all of that. That doesn't happen very often, so I'll go with it! Now that the weather (with the exception of yesterday, ugh) is getting much more springlike, I have been having glimpses of what the summer will be like, and I'm enjoying the view!
Weekend Wrap-up:
On Friday after work, I decided to pull out the new bike and go for a ride. This proved to be a fun and wise choice, except that I am /so/ not used to the skinny bicycle seat which threatened to break my cooter! But (hopefully) I will get used to that and it will be fine. Then I saw Jen for about three seconds before she went off to dinner at Haiku with Missy and Bart. Tiff came over and we walked up and down the Short North while she decided what she wanted to eat. She wanted Haiku. I wasn't entirely enthusiastic because a) I ate there for lunch that day, b) I didn't want to look like I was stalking Jen, and c) it was Friday night and there was sure to be an insane wait. But
Teresa saved the day with her hostess hook-up. Yay! Anyway, I opted to eat cooked food (mostly) since I'd had sushi for the last two meals, and the food is always good there. Missy, Bart and I were throwing notes back and forth to each other, and I got to see Jen. Yay. We stopped at Bart's on the way back, and a bunch of them were all going to see The Epoxies at High Five, and I wanted to go soooooo badly because they are so good and Roxy Epoxy is so hot. Yow. Anyway, Tiff wanted to go to this party for a group of international OSU students, and it was down the street from me, so we went.
I felt bad drinking the beer because we hadn't brought any, so I wasn't tipsy like most of the people. Blah. And everyone there (well, mostly) was straight and married and pregnant or expecting. The funniest thing, though, was when this Chinese woman pointed to my "dyke" necklace and said, "Is that your name?" When I said no, she asked, "Well, is that your boyfriend's name?" I'm not often stunned silent, but all I could do was laugh. She eventually taught me how to say, "Fuck your mother" in Chinese after I explained to her what 'dyke' meant. So there, it was educational. Anyway, I was kind of itching to see Jen, so at about 12:30am I started harassing Tiff to leave, and she finally agreed to leave at 2. I was so frustrated, because I knew Jen would be sleeping by then. And it was raining. And I just kind of got tired of the party. I had found my crankypants. Sean called me from the Epoxies and I was envious all over again. Poo. Oh, and
vorpalbla, this cool girl named Stella says hi. She was at the party. She was actually one of the fun parts. (She is working on a performance art piece where she does interpretive dance to a Method Man song in front of a montage of pictures of armpits. No, I don't get it either.)
On Saturday, I slept until 12:30pm, which is absolutely unheard of for me, and we got out of bed at like 3pm. I felt like total crap - too tired, couldn't get up, no motivation, etc. I dragged my butt out of bed and Jen and I went to City Center so she could run some errands, and we ate a lunch I totally didn't like. But I got to go visit
smithee, so that made up for it. <3 rocky <3 I went back to my apartment to do some stuff, and she came over and we went to see Dreamcatcher The show we wanted was sold out, so we got tickets for the next show and went to Johnny Rockets and Target and Barnes & Noble while waiting. I bought the 8 Mile soundtrack finally. Yay! Dreamcatcher was just too weird for me. I mean, it was entertaining but I don't really like aliens, and there was that one alien that looked like Close Encounters and I hate that. Stupid aliens.
We got up early on Sunday so we could get laundry done in the morning.
Brandie Naked met us at the laundromat and we ate at Jack & Benny's, which I'd never been to but was pretty good. We dropped Jen off and Brandie and I had a very successful (but COLD) day of
geocaching. First we replaced my missing Nerdy Smurf Cache. We then hit The Long Overdue Cache, Hoop There It Is, From The Basement To The Academy, and I Walk The Line. We found them all, and it was a 2/2 split with each of us doing the finding. Aside from the cold weather, and the burrs I have to pluck from my coat (one of them involved lots of 'shwhacking, which is always fun), I'd call it a success. Heck, I got a pig-shaped whoopie cushion. When we got back to Jen's, she had made lasagne, and it was /good/. We gorged on lasagne and ice cream, and Brandie left. Jen and I were going to go see a CATCO play, but watched four episodes of Queer as Folk instead.
Everything was just really laid back and casual, and the weather /must/ be getting warmer, because everyone is in good spirits, it seems. I'm really looking forward to this summer - last year's was so much fun, and this year I get to share all the good stuff with
The Girl. Yay.
