Basic psychology would dictate that the continual pairing of the ICQ sound with smart and witty messages from ME would cause you to associate that sound with the joy that you feel when I ICQ you. And you would then learn to like that ICQ sound itself.

Alternately, the pairing of my messages with an annoying sound might make my messages annoying.

Perhaps we should disable the sounds all together...

Or I could accompany every ICQ message with a new MP3.
