(A quick Pride update)

So I'm at the Ani concert, and I begged my way into the non-general-admission area to see [livejournal.com profile] chutup, [livejournal.com profile] tandex, Joe, and Kristy. As I'm walking back to the lawn area, I hear, "Hey, I love your shirt. Let me see your shirt!" I look for the source of the voice and it's none other than my secret slam crush, Alix Olson! So I scurry over to her and say, "Heck, for Alix Olson, I'll show anything!"

I was wearing the "The Binary Gender System Sucks" tshirt I ordered for the occasion, and she asked where I got it. I told her I got it from [livejournal.com profile] technodyke. I said, "I had to get a shirt from Stacy. I love Stacy!" She said, "I do, too!" (Yay, technodyke.com!) So I introduced myself, and she introduced herself, and we shook hands, and I said something about how since I showed her my shirt, she had to let me take her picture. She said, "Only if you're in it!" and then she introduced me to this person she was with, and that woman took the picture of us on my camera. Then I let her know that I'd briefly encountered her in Milwaukee in 2001 at Creating Change, and she smiled, and was just generally nice to me. So I gave her a hug, thanked her, told her I had a big crush on her after Creating Change, and dashed back to my spot with [livejournal.com profile] kieron, [livejournal.com profile] whirledpeas, and Mrs. Peas.

Whatever I've got, I don't want to lose it. Ever.

(It's a terrible picture of me, but I already planned to send it to you and Alix!) (I know, I'm pathetic.)

I have to find the box I packed my camera stuff in so I can download the picture, and then it's yours! Thanks for providing the conversation piece!

First Dar telling you that you rocked her world, and now getting noticed by Alix Olson for your t-shirt at Pride...you are just a MAGNET! The only thing that would have made it Hollywood-unbelievable was if Ani had called you up onto the stage. :)

I was down at Pride until about 3 or 3:30, hoping to spot you (and my friend who's in the Flaggots, since I wanted to compliment her on their portion of the parade), but then the skin was beginning to bake through the sunscreen (compliments of the nice folks at Outlook), and I was getting hungry, and so I took off.

I'm going to be writing my Pride writeup here shortly. Right now all I have is a "coming attractions" bit to let people know it's coming. :)

We marched with Kaleidoscope in the parade, and then when we got to Bicentennial, Jen had gotten too much sun and was feeling sick. We actually sat in the shade trying to cool her down for several hours, and by the time we got up again, you'd probably gone.

There were so many people this year! I didn't see a lot of the people I knew would be there, but did run into other random people, so it was nice.

The Flaggots do an amazing job, but I didn't get to see them this year.

I'll go into more detail with your reply to my post (since it's more detailed as well), but I'm glad that I'm not the only one that doesn't handle lots of sun well. Yesterday wasn't so bad for me because it wasn't terribly humid, yet one of the big reasons I took off so soon was I was getting dried out, and couldn't afford to buy anything to drink down at the park. A part of me wanted to go dance in the fountain, though. :)

It's fun to dance in the fountain! Although the bottom is REALLY icky in parts. ;)

She doesn't take heat well, especially not with being sick. I think she probably should have loaded up on water before we left, but we really weren't thinking... and the whole walk downtown was just BAKING.

Poor girls, both of you.

Ah, slime on the bottom of a fountain is pretty much to be expected. :)

Yeah, I don't deal well with the heat, especially when it's humid. I need strong sunscreen to keep from burning, too. Since I didn't put any on before the parade, I hid in the shade. :) Afterwards, well, I was just glad that Outlook was passing out the sunscreen packets. All the same, my scalp probably got more sun than it should have. Ah, well!

I had fun, and that's what matters most.

Alix Olsen?

Like the Alix Olsen who went to Wesleyan University with me?

I just went to her website, and I do believe that's the Alix Olsen I went to school with. We were both in a horrible play called "The People vs. Ranchman". My role in the play was "Ground Woman" and Alix played my counterpart, "Sky Woman".

I'm so glad to see that she's found her way into poetry slams and such. She was a talented actress/speaker. The play we were in wasn't worth her time, really.

I'm going to email her the picture of us when I download it. When I do, I'll ask her!

(Then maybe we'll become bestest friends!!)

Hee.

She was very nice. I don't remember her super well, but if it's the Alix I knew -- she was a class act.

...Eileen McLoughlin, if she remembers me at all.

I was "Ground Woman" (and she was "Sky Woman") in the "People Vs. Ranchman", a wretched play that we performed in our frosh year at Wesleyan...
