judecorpDoes anyone know where I can make $2000 really quickly? As if it wasn't bad enough that we won't get my vacation pay, and I may not be approved for unemployment, and I don't know when I can start my new job, Jennifer needs a root canal and a crown. And insurance won't pay.
I've already been looking into egg donation, but I don't know the process. But does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone need a babysitter, or a petsitter, or anything?

Date: 2003-07-11 12:52 pm (UTC)My uncle was laid off a few months ago and his employer is refusing to give him his vacation pay. My dad said this is illegal since it's already been paid into. My dad is going to make sure my uncle reports his company to whomever is in charge of regulating that stuff. (My dad is the controlling older brother)
If that is your case, I wonder if you could complain to some agency...

Date: 2003-07-11 06:52 pm (UTC)The policy at my old company was that you are awarded 3 weeks vacation on your first anniversary. After 6 months, you are able to "borrow" vacation from those 3 weeks, but you don't see the vacation on your paystubs until one year.
So I had been there 10+ months. I figured I wasn't eligible for vacation pay. So I asked my supervisor if I could still "borrow" some days before I was laid off, and if I did, would I have to "pay them back?" She told me she'd find out.
She came back and told me that she was told that even though you GET the weeks at your anniversary, you are actually accruing them all this time, so that I would be eligible for partial vacation. I should have asked for this in writing, because I called HR and they told me that I was simply given faulty information.
Suck. I'm sorry about your uncle.
