So it started when I went to the emergency room, really, because I didn't know how much I would be responsible for and knew I would get the bill when I was unemployed. The actual ER bill was just shy of $2800. I was waiting with bated breath to see what insurance would cover.

And then I became unemployed, and expected to be working at the new job by July 15th. Bzzzt. Wrongo. It's looking like mid-August, when the FBI check comes back.

So my supervisor told me that I would be paid for partial accrual of my vacation time. I was expecting about $800 after taxes. With that in mind, after the expense of moving (which I had saved for), Jennifer and I purchased a new washer and dryer set, and with delivery and warrantee and all of that, we acquired it to the tune of $700ish. And I then arranged everything for our trip to San Francisco, at a hell of a discount (flight voucher and discount hotel) for about $620 total.

And then I got my explanation of benefits for the ER visit. My part is $250. (Not bad!) And then learned that I might not qualify for unemployment, due to an Ohio "base period" loophole. And then learned that I wasn't getting my vacation pay. And I keep putting off my 60,000 mile maintenance (now at 64,000 miles). And last month, 6 days of electricity was $23, so I'm /terrified/ of this month's full bill. Especially since my total July income amounts to 6 days of work at the end of June - $500. And I have this month's bills to pay. Yeah.

And then Jennifer found out this morning that she needs a root canal and a crown. And that her insurance won't cover it. Hello, big ridiculous unplanned expense! So I had a bit of a nervous breakdown. Jen finally came home and we talked and planned some things out, and I started to feel a little better. She went to pick up her prescription (her tooth that needs the root canal is infected) and I got started on dinner.

And then she called me to pick her up at the store, because now her car won't start. It's not the battery (the lights and radio and everything come on), and is probably the starter (it doesn't click or anything). So on Monday she will need to take my car to work, and I will arrange for AAA to tow the car to the mechanic. And pay to fix the car.

I swear, if this wasn't crushing my chest, I would probably start laughing.

(Comments removed because I am not, in any way, asking for or considering taking money. Thank you in advance.)
