judecorpWell, today has been fun so far. YAY!
Today is
Missy Goodtimes's birthday, and she came over for lunch. I made pasta and she brought bread. While we were eating, Jennifer came home for lunch and ate, too. Missy and I pored through the personal ads in The Other Paper and then decided to go to Goodwill. We took forever looking at everything, and it's a good thing, because we eventually ran into Kelly! So we got to talk to her and look at clothes, and then we paid and left. I got some really ugly shirts for $10. Score! One of them is REALLY ugly. I think I will wear it tonight. (I was going to go on Rebecca's boat, but by the time lunch was done, there wouldn't have been enough quality time. Next time!)
So now that we ran into Kelly, I have a date for The Nurses' last show tonight at Bernie's! Double score! It should be a really good time. And before the show, Jennifer and I are having sushi with the Peases. Hooray for sushi! We (almost) managed to stick to our no-eating-out rule, so we still get the sushi reward. Good times will be had. I even made reservations so we wouldn't have to fight for a table.
On top of all of this, I received another (slightly higher) offer from the new job. It's not nearly as much as I wanted (poop), but it was (slightly) higher than their original offer, and it's a direct compromise from what I wanted. I wanted $4000 more than my last job, and got a little over $2000 - all while working 35 hours/week instead of 40. So not /so/ bad, and I didn't want to counteroffer again. The woman on the phone said she was surprised that I took it, but that she was "really looking forward to working with me," and that she "thought I would be really good" and "really great to work with." So I was duly flattered.
And THEN, I opened the mail and there was a card and a check from my Mommy! Inside was a nice little note that said:
Anyone that knows my history with my Mom has an idea of how much this means to me. YAY!
