You know, Howard Dean is playing too far to the middle for me, at least for a primary. I think I'm going to have to evaluate my "Dean rocks my pants" sentiment, and instead leave my pants-rocking for Dennis Kucinich (even if he /does/ look like an Oompa Loompa).

If I'm going to end up "lesser of two evils"-ing, I'm not going to do it in the primary. I'll pick someone as crazily progressive as I am. :)

Yeah.

I just hope when the actual election comes, you don't have to vote for someone you don't want so you don't give the vote to someone else by spliting the ticket. ;-)

Man, these campaigns.. Howard Dean for AMERICA.. Hahaha.. Well, as long as he isn't for RUSSIA, or CUBA by mistake.

For those voters asking for a candidate even more off his nut than Al Sharpton, Jim Traficant is considering running from prison.

Had a Google search of "Michael Moore" + "plagiarism" not turned up 1,160 results, I would possibly have a bit more respect for what he has to write.

"You see, George, it's not the lying and the doctoring of intelligence that has me all upset."

Why am I not surprised, Mike?

That said... I recognize Michael Moore is a successful entertainer, and I was duly entertained by his letter.

Yes, but if you vote for Kucinich in the primary, and your vote causes Dean to lose the nomination to some other stooge who loses to Bush, then what would you have helped accomplish?

Speak with your heart, but vote with your head!!

right, but what if a large number of the people who are supporting Dean are doing so for that very reason, when they would otherwise be following their heart and voting for Kucinich.

I'm really surprised, Steve. You're usually much more honest in your reporting than this. This is like proving the point that you can use statistics to mean anything.

Let's forget that the top entry on that Google search was a page from a Prof. Michael Moore, and his syllabus for his English 102 class that mentions a plagiarism policy.

And let's forget that a significant portion of the sites /aren't/ talking about Michael Moore the leftist's plagiarism.

And maybe let's post something a little more accurate.

Shall we?

Yea, when I read about Kucinich a few months ago, I knew who I was voting for.

Honestly - I think Dean's going to sweep the primary. In the MoveOn.org "primary" (which, admittedly, is not going to be accurate), Dean had over 50% of the votes - and there were a LOT of votes.

He's also campaigning hard all over the place, especially moderate states, and Dean is trying espexially hard to take Ohio.

I mean, who else is even CLOSE? Certainly not Lieberman or Kerry.

Hey, such misrepresentation is par for the course with anything that involves Mr. Moore... I'm sure he'll understand.

Regardless, consider:

or

(I find ironic that he was exposed by Salon, arguably a publication that tilts to the left)

Since it's from me, I'll provide an obligatory FoxNews link ...

Heck, there is even a website devoted such a subject...

As for my haphazard google comment... Unlike Mike if I say something online that can be discredited, I won't delete it simply because it's easy to do so. ;-)

Interesting...I've been pretty impressed by Dean.

Details?

Even as a third-party guy I think it makes sense to make certain decisions based on a candidate's larger appeal. Not many people voted for Jello Biafra when he ran against Nader for the Green nomination in 2000.

I do too,

I worry that a real progressive president won't get elected, and that will result in Bush getting re-elected. That would make me very very sad.

Heh. I agree that Michael Moore definitely has his faults, and in general has hurt the progressive movement more than he has helped it-
still, I am glad that he is speaking his mind, and much of what he claims to believe, I support.

The other thing I like about Moore is that he encourages people to act- not just by sending letters- but by urging people to go beyond just words and into action on a number of issues. One has to admit that he is sending some positive messages.

I can come up with examples for that, but I don't think it's necessary- Moore receives a lot of flack, and much of it is deserved. I'm not trying to defend everything he does, just explain why I like a lot of what he has to say. In a time where even people like myself are called unpatriotic for disagreeing on some issues, I admire those who speak out.

<- Slow on the uptake

I think it's interesting that Kucinich has the 'progessive' tag when his record on choice is so awful -- 10% rating from Planned Parenthood and a zero from NARAL. That's why I decided against him -- I can't go with someone who's going to flip-flop on such an issue that's so important to me.
