Okay, so I was casually looking at airfares to go home and see my family, since it looks like (FBI fingerprint backlog) I won't be working until sometime in September. My grandmother's 82nd birthday is at the end of the month, so I thought maybe I would go and surprise her.

There is airfare now (of course, since I decided not to go to the reunion) that is something like $131 + tax. Which is GREAT, but requires you stay through Sunday. Which means the weekend. (I wanted to go during the week, so I could still spend the weekend with Jen.)

Now I'm having all of these conflicting thoughts because I don't want to lose my weekends with Jen, but then I wonder what sort of codependent freak I've become in the last year. It's one weekend! But here I am, agonizing about it. Do I go home on a weekend? Do I stay here and not spend the money? Dilemma.

Go home. You never know how many more birthdays there will be TO go for. You can spend the other 51 weekends with Jen if she can't go. :)

Yeah, I know. I'm totally going to go. Now I just get to decide if I go /on/ her birthday, or the day after.

I don't want family overload. =P

I think you should go home, even if it's for one weekend. That's the beauty of living with someone, even during the week, you get time with them.

And don't forget she needs to finish her thesis...

Very true. You are a smart cookie, Shani Jean. You should take a day off work and play with me.

think about how awesome it will feel the first time you see her after you haven't been together for a few days. you'll have a weekend with your family AND the awesome elated reunion bliss after. totally worth it, i think.

Go for it, chickabee. See G'Maw on her birthday.

Happy birthday, Grandma! For your birthday, I'm going to tell you that I live with that woman you stared at last March!

You should definitely come visit Grandma. You know how excited she would be! You should also come see us in Boston! William and I have a delightful spare bedroom that could use some Smufy luv. :) Or I'll come to you if you don't have time to get away for a night and I'll wisk you away and wine and dine you!

And I know it is hard to be away. I know if I make too many plans that don't include William it makes me sad. Not sad to see my friends, but I feel like I haven't seen him enough. But you can call the girl muchly and send her postcards and stuff. It won't be too long!

I definitely think we need to get together. I'm sure I could get away for a night, because Grandma's birthday is on a Wednesday and because of cheap fare restrictions, I'll be there until Sunday.

Plenty of time to see your new place!! YAY!

27 Aug - 31 Aug, but I leave in the morning on the 31st so that day doesn't really count.

What about that Friday, the 29th?

I have to work during the day. My usual hours are 9:30 - 5:30. I could probably skip lunch and leave at 4:30 though. If you came into South Station you'd be really close to my office and we could meet downtown and then out to the apartment.

I think that sounds like a plan that could work! I could spend the day with the fam, and then head to you in the early evening (I will look at train schedules later) and we can have a night of passion fun!

Olive juice.

So like...we talked about this a few minutes ago on the phone.....;)

I will miss you but you should GO. You will regret it if you don't and you haven't seen your family since christmas. You have the time off and the funds and the opportunity. YOU SHOULD GO. I will even take you to the airport.

I love you and will miss you....but *ahem*....you should go;) and you should go ON your grandma's birthday - not the day after.

I already bought the tickets, gorgeous.

I just wanted to talk to you about it first. :)

I appreciate you talking to me first about it. :)

I think this is a good idea. I will think of ways to welcome you home after your trip;)

Ways NOT to welcome me home:

Date: 2003-08-13 08:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
1. "Hi, honey! I saved you all of the cat puke."

2. "Sorry to drop you off and run, but I made plans."

3. "I was thinking while you were gone, and I don't ever want to have sex with you again."

4. "I baked you this gigantic onion cake!"

Mmmm...Onions!

Grossness!

Onions: One thing Christina and I always agreed on.

Also...

From: [identity profile] kieron.livejournal.com
5. "Hi honey, these are our new roomates and their 6 kids and 2 dogs and ferret. I already rented my car trunk out to another family."

6. Hi, uhm....you know your computer upstairs? Uh....well.....er....you should just come and look for yourself.

7. Hey, this is so-and-so. I wanted you to meet my new boyfriend before you got to the house and saw all his stuff in our room!;)

Heh, that last one made me choke....

I was thinking more along the lines of....

Hey, I bet your tired from your trip. Let's get us home and we can relax together and you can tell me everything that happened while you were away and I was cleaning up cat puke!;)

smurfy,
go home and visit yer family.
yer jen will understand and be there for you when you return.
you will be gaining a weekend with family, not losing one with jen.

But I WANT IT ALL!

I want to see my family /and/ have my Jen. See, this is why we need to move closer.

Dilemma. Dilemma. Dilemma. Go. Stay. Go. Stay.

Decide what you like, but you must have icecream with me again.

That is all.
