Requirement: Business Sense
Aug. 24th, 2003 05:38 pmToday when my Jennifer and I were sitting outside at Cafe Corner eating our lunches, I decided that it would be pretty neat if I could someday open a wimmin's coffee house/bookshop. How excellent would that be? The cooler thing was that my best girl was sort of interested in the idea, too.
I wonder how that sort of thing works. I know nothing about business or entrepreneurship. But it sure would be a cool place to hang out! I wonder if we really could pull it off someday.

Date: 2003-08-24 04:45 pm (UTC)I really think that you'd make a wonderful environment for folks to relax and mingle and just be themselves in, as all true coffee shops should. You have that knack!

But of course you could be there every day! :)

Date: 2003-08-25 06:10 am (UTC)Dad said, "would you be happy or miserable? I'd only be disappointed if you chose a job that made you miserable. I taught my kids better than that."
Mom said "No one is going to marry a poor bookstore worker!" I said they would if I had a beachhouse in Nags Head.
Ive got a bar and beverage license, coffee house experience, bookseller experience, a degree in PR and I like women. Can we set up an interview?

All units are connected in serail. You must go through one to get to the other. So, you go in, smelly, unlaundered and disgusting, on a saturday afternoon. Leave your car with a pack of caring lesbian mechanics, to get the emissions approved. Drop off your clothes stuff, get your coffee and muffin. You find a book, and you hear new grrls on guitars, who also write poetry. After the, um, "earthy" portion of your day, you head off off to the spa, and get bathed and massaged. Then you have your hair and nails done, and go off to the movie house, where service minions travel the walkway pits between all the recliners that are positioned in front of the screen. Alternately, you can lay in a mud bath and watch Lara Croft onscreen. Or whatever.
The only probelm for me is whether I am a guitar guy, the masseuse, the hair person, the business manager, or someone else. Of course, I'll need about a dozen cucumber grrls to staff, so that we can cool out the lazy clientele for all phases of the day.

I like the idea of getting all of my errands and pampering done at once. You, my dear, are a genius!

Date: 2003-08-25 11:22 am (UTC)I don't /wanna/ take business courses! Business sounds so ICK ICK ICK to me. (Maybe Jen will want to do it, heh.)
Maybe I need a silent partner.
