I am lucky.

Yesterday, Jennifer got a haircut that is outstanding. For once, she got pretty much exactly what she wanted (which can be hard when you go to a walk-in place and always get a different person) and it just looks amazing. I was unable to stop staring at her yesterday. She is so incredibly hot.

We went shopping for bed linens together. Normally I'm not a big fan of shopping, but this was important. The bed that is now ours was once hers (and before that, it was Patti and Scott's, but that's not important right now), and she had linens that she had picked herself. In order to make the bed more ours, we got new sheets and a new comforter. I think it looks very cool! It is very art-deco, and I'm surprised Jen likes it. I'm always amazed when we agree on something like that, because our style preferences are so dissimilar.

In the afternoon, she got to read some of her new book while I continued to slog through the mire of photos and photo albums. I'm nearly done organizing all that mess - 10 years of pictures in little picture envelopes all over the place! (Ugh.) I read a little, too, my head in her lap and Grendel in mine. And we managed to agree on something very important that I admittedly doubted we would ever agree on - not out of fault, but out of differing tastes.

That evening, we went to Buca di Beppo with Steve, because she was craving Italian food. She even got dressed up for me! When I went upstairs, she was changing out of the shorts and tshirt she'd worn all day and put on really nice pants and a shirt. She looked fantastic and I found myself needing to change clothes in order to keep up with her. Did I mention how incredibly hot she is? Gah!

On the way to Buca, we found an open cell phone lying on the sidewalk. I picked it up and went through the phone numbers until I found one marked 'Home,' and left a message on the home machine. Ten minutes later, I got a call back from the phone's owner, we met in front of Buca, and I gave him his phone. He was very grateful, and I let him know that he'd indirectly encouraged both Jennifer and myself to put 'Home' in our cell phones. We had a good time at dinner even though we got very shoddy service.

After dinner, I'd invited Steve over to watch Gosford Park, but after about an hour, I started to feel very droopy (and it's a /long/ movie), so I bailed on him (sorry, Steve!). I did all of my nighttime rituals (brush teeth, drink water, check email and LJ, etc.) and then curled into my new art-deco bed with my very hot girl.

Yesterday was one of the best days of the year. I'm glad we decided not to go to the Ren Faire, and instead stayed local. I'm bursting with desire to gush about something, but I'm feeling the need to keep it on the DL for a while. *boing*

Is the something you're bursting to gush about the same thing that you and Jenm agreed on while you were both reading?

I'm so glad you two had a great day!! And it's good to see that you were able to chill at home, and work on making it more 'both yours' with the comforter. Something Tom and I are still fighting since this house was my Great-Grandmother's before us. I'm...*ALMOST* ready to change stuff. And she's been dead for three years now. Noooo, I'm not a slave to tradition. Not at all....

We didn't agree while we were reading, so I guess I wrote that incorrectly. We agreed on more shopping-type stuff, and it's so surprising when we do, because we have such different tastes.

Gushing, well, that's something different. =P

As for the house, I would be just like you. When I was younger, I used to tell my grandparents that I loved their house (I do) and that I wanted to inherit it. It would be SO ODD to live in that house with someone else, because I doubt they would want to live in my grandparents' house, but I would have a hard time changing things.

*offers*

You know, you could gush to me, and I'd never tell a soul. Nope, not a soul....

*grins*

And it is hard. Somethings have changed, but I still want to keep the man and woman's face plague hanging on the wall (It's ghastly, but I love it!) or the Peacock in sequins on black velvet picture that both hang in our bedroom. How about the GOD AWEFUL green curtains in the living room, that I keep up only because they're thick and reflect some of the sun back outside when it's setting, to keep the room from turning into a broiler.

ANYHOW...I'm still listening, if you wanna Gush!

Bedding is my life.
I have a set of 600 thread count sheets the color of unsalted butter that I purchased for a pittance at a flea market and I sweat them.

Your weekend sounds lovely, and it sounds like you both needed some fun, damn it. [waves tiny fist]

Oh my gosh, 600 count? *blink blink* WOW. I've never owned anything over 250, but SOMEDAY, Gadget, someday!

Let me lay on your sheets.

Does someone REALLY count the threads in the linen?

That's a groovy story about the Cell Phone. It reminds me of last year at Dragon*con. I lost my badge and someone was kind enough to take it to the Hotel concierge. Otherwise I would have had to buy another pass!

The guy seemed really blown away that we didn't just leave his phone there. I mean, our first thought was to take it to a Sprint store so they could get in touch with him, but I decided to go through the phone book instead, looking for a "Mom" or "Dad" number to call... but hit paydirt with "Home."

I can't believe people don't return stuff. How rude!

Someone stole my TV and they haven't returned it yet.

If I found your TV on the sidewalk, I would definitely call you.

Completely unrelated to this post, but I just wanted to know that I'll ring you on Wednesday morning as far as finalizing getting together, if that's cool?
