and then another
and we watched the television
and a plane hit the Pentagon
and there was a fire on the Washington Mall
and President Bush was his usual moronic self
and Jodie and I sat, side by side on the sofa
and we remarked that they were still upright, even after
...and then they started falling, the towers
first one, then the other
and the dust flew
and the steel downed
and my City
my beautiful, indestructable City...
here I am, sitting just east in Maspeth
and I couldn't do anything to save it
8 planes suspected hijacked
40,000 people expected to work at the WTC
3 silent tears:

one for the World Trade Center
one for Manhattan
and one for me.
