Yeah, so the Assistant Director did indeed call me back yesterday afternoon, and he told me that he hasn't been able to find anyone at the FBI that can say why everything is taking so long, but of course it is all blamed on September 11th. Oooookay. So he said that he thought it was ridiculous that I hadn't started yet, and that he was going to talk to Human Resources about whether I can start without the fingerprints, since I've had to wait so long and if something was going to come up, it would have come up by now. He said he would make sure someone got back to me by the end of the week, because he was hoping I could start on Monday.

And then he said, "If you don't hear from anyone, call me personally on Friday." We talked some more, and when we were getting off the phone, he said, "Don't forget about Friday. Talk to me on Friday." At least there is one seemingly-competent person in that building, which heartens me somewhat. I might be working on Monday. Monday! That is CRAZY! I think I've forgotten HOW to go to work - what do I wear? What do I have to do? wasted_breathSean and I were totally boggling about this phenomenon called "work."

Sean and I ran into my former coworker Jenise at the Drexel last night, when we were waiting for The Magdalene Sisters. (The movie was incredible.) She saved us from the crazy old lady that kept talking to us, and thankfully wasn't in our movie. Of course, the older couple behind us who talked loudly through the entire movie more than made up for her. It was like watching a movie with my grandparents. (p.s. Nora-Jane Noone is so hot.)

Laundry: check. Bathroom: check. Next up: Dishes, cat boxes, and garbage.

That movie's been on my list but I find the premise so sad.

I'm hoping that there'll be something redeeming and hopeful in it, ala Shawshank.

Well, it's definitely a downer of a movie for the most part, but it ends on a positive note if that's what you mean. :) (Well, mostly.)

It was very good.

Thank you for not spoiling it. Your response is actually rather intriguing, and makes me want to watch it even more. :)

The actors, I thought, were very good. I think you would appreciate it.

Hints for going back to work

Here are my helpful hints for going back to productivity: :)
1) Try to practice getting up early -- it'll make the first week back a lot easier. That totally kicked my butt cause I got so used to staying up late and sleeping through most of the morning
2) Ummm, that was the main one. Maybe make fun lunch plans for one of the days so you'll have something fun to look foward to in what is usually a dull first couple days.
3) Wear something relatively clean and as free of cat hair as possible? :)

Thanks for the tip, but I'm already way ahead of you.

Throughout my unemployment, I have kept Jennifer's sleep/wake schedule (for the most part). So I tend to go to bed when she does, or a little later, but I get up when she gets up, and I'm usually out of bed by 9am.

The hard part, though, will be getting up and actually having to get ready and go! Right now, I get up, read for a little bit, check email, and start cleaning the house.

Lunch date is a good idea!

Very smart! Sadly, William's sleep/wake timing didn't help since if it was up to him he'd be up until 3am and sleep until 11. *sigh* That's what I would naturally do too if I had any say in the matter. At least I don't have to be at work until 9:30. That's pretty good!

Perhaps they are aware that, while visiting California, you ate at the home of a woman of Syrian descent.

What's myrrh? It's a balm!

Oh good! I was hoping to hear more about the movie. I'd seen a preview about it and wanted to see it. Thanks!

Oh, I was trying to talk my friends into seeing that last night. No go. I feel gypped when I can't see a Drexel movie on Bargain night. :P

Squeamish Me asks, How graphic is the violence in Magdalene Sisters?

I love bargain night!

It's not /terribly/ graphic. There are a few whipping scenes that even I managed to stomach (and I have a really low tolerance for that sort of thing) and a teensy bit of blood.

Most of the movie is violence-free.

If you're looking for a different victim, I'm interested in seeing it. Of course, it didn't work out very well last time we tried this..but..yunno...

Well, do you have plans for tonight yet? There's a showing at 9:45 and since I get off work at nine, I could just meet ya over there.

I'm supposed to be hanging out with a friend tonight who just moved back into town. Sorry. :( I will try to convince him that instead of drinking, we should come see the movie instead, and if I manage, I'll let you know.

well that is awesome. I know from experience that unemployment has a certain charm... but after a while one does tend to feel "the itch" to get back to work. so I'm really glad for you. and proud! because obviously this guy thinks you are a really valuable resource to be putting all this personal effort in.

and thanks so much for offering to bring something over. i would take you up on it totally if the Little Bundle of Spanish Goodness wasn't already on his way. :)

Congrats on finally getting somewhere on the job. The AD sounds pretty cool, even if the others are a bunch of twits.
