1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
Well, for different reasons, my two musical loves are the Indigo Girls and Paul Simon. I've loved them both now for half my life, which means that from now on, I will love them more than I haven't. My brother gave me a copy of the Indigo Girls' self-titled album when I was a wee 14, and their music and their voices really resonated with me. Paul Simon just makes me feel like a little kid - a contented little kid. Arrr!

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
Celine Effing Dion. I don't even know why, but I know that even the mention of her name is like nails on a chalkboard. No, scratch that - I /like/ nails on a chalkboard compared to her. Yuck!

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
How would I know? I don't know any of them as people! But from what I've seen (interviews and such), they all seem like nice, down-to-earth people. And Paul Simon is married to Edie Brickell, and I'd sure like to be /their/ houseguest!

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
I've been to concerts I cringe to admit: Bel Biv Devoe, Milli Vanilli, Tiffany. I've been to concerts in bars, and in clubs, and in big venues. I love live music! The "good girlfriend" in me wants to say that The Reacharounds put on the best show, because the crowd is full of my friends! But I've been to some really good shows. I would say that Ani DiFranco is the master of the good show - she really gets everyone going, especially when she plays smaller, more intimate venues. I loved seeing her through her bar-and-coffee-house days.

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?
I actually buy /less/ music now that I am not downloading music or getting mp3s from people. I got so much exposure to stuff I didn't even know I wanted! Of course, it costs like $0.50 to make a CD and $18 to buy one, so I sincerely doubt the RIAA or the music industry was losing any kind of money. Yeah, like my downloading 39 versions of the Smurf themesong was hurting the World Order.

OMG, I think that's one themesong I /don't/ have. I do, however, have Punky Brewster (the show, not the cartoon), Family Ties, and Silver Spoons.

"Wake up in the moring feeling shy and lonely gee i gotta go to school
Don't think i can make it, dont think i can take it
I wonder what i'm going to do
But when I look around and see
That someone is smiling at me,
Wait that someone's loking at me, hey i've got a new friend
Everybody can succeed, all you need is to belive
Come one give us a try at Degrassi Junior Highhhhhhhhhh"

I have all of those. As well as The Dukes of Hazzard, the A-Team, and so many versions of the Sesame Street song and Rubber Ducky. I have a *great* one that's the german version from the german Sesame Street (I first sorthanded that as 'the german SS', which was just *wrong*), remixed into a *great* techno beat.

I agree with you about downloading. I used to hear lots of bands that I had never heard of/would not have been exposed to back when music was more available. They aren't doing themselves any favors by doing this, especially since, as you say, the price to produce a CD is so low. They make more from the honest people who do buy than the ones who are pure pirates.
