Surprisingly good time.
Nov. 16th, 2003 12:52 pmThe surprise party:
Friday night, Jen came home and tried todistract erm, prevent us from attending
Rebecca's surprise party. But she saw a gift bag and when I told her it was a housewarming gift for Rebecca, she conceded that we needed to go to the party. We drove and drove (and got turned around once) and then arrived at Rebecca's gorgeous home.
Sarah Sarah and
Brandie Naked were pulling in right ahead of us, and they tried to duck and hide, which confused my Jennifer muchly. (HA!) When we came into the house, everyone was holding little confetti poppers and pointing them at Jen and cheering, and she was /really/ confused. (Awesome.) Rebecca came up and yelled, "This party is for you!" and Jen was so stunned. (I thought for sure she had figured it out already.) It was great!
There were a bunch of babies there!
Patti and
Scott brought little Fisher,
Dianna and Bill brought Maylie, and Rebecca's sister-in-law Maya brought Owen. It was baby-o-riffic! (And since my supervisor had brought her baby daughter in to work, my babyclock was going completely bonkers.) At some point, I tried to eat Fisher, but he proved too smart for me.

Rebecca kept plying us with alcohol, and she had filled her place with all kinds of delicious food. She really is totally amazing. We got to meet the new man in her life, Kyle, who I have to say is her perfect complement. The two of them are so caring and so sweet and so compassionate. (At one point,
Peas said Rebecca totally embodies everything the word "Christian" should mean, and I'm inclined to agree.) We like him so much - he rocks! After a little while,
Nikki and
Eric (the newlyweds) arrived, and some people started to leave.
And then I really started to get tipsy, because Scott handed his (stiff) drink on to me when he left.
Jenn Peas and
Sarah Carrots arrived, and when Rebecca found out it was Sarah's birthday the next day, there was more reason to celebrate. Reba made everyone make toasts (you can't say no to that girl) when the champagne came out, and by then we were all getting woozy.
Rebecca took so many pictures that I cannot wait to see. We were in the kitchen, on the back deck, on the bed, in the (GIGANTIC) tub... I bet they are a hoot! At some point we decided to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark (because I bought the Indiana Jones box set for Jen), but Nikki and I passed out instantly. Jenn and Sarah left in the middle, and Jen woke me up at the end and we left, and Nikki and Eric slept all night. As I remarked to Kyle, "You know you're getting old when you throw a party and everyone falls asleep."
All in all, it was the best time of November, I'm pretty certain. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard, I fell in serious love with Kyle, and I found that Eric and I had the hairiest legs at the party. Oh, and that Eric has no uvula, and Rebecca was wearing a see-through bra, and that I have now seen the largest refrigerator ever. It was so great to have this amazing experience with Nikki and Eric, because I don't see Nikki enough and I really don't think I truly met Eric until Friday night.
What a fantastic time! Thanks everyone!
